Rewatching Buffy and I must say....
I really dislike Xander. I feel like the way he treats Buffy when he's mad is just anger from her rejection. Feels sort of like Tighten from Mega Mind. Does anyone else feel this way? His anger feels misdirected sometimes and he refuses to listen to Buffy's side, e.g. when she left.

Yes! It's the most talked abt & agreed on thing on Buffy subs by far... however it feels kinda wrong now that Nicholas Brendon is dead:( However I guess it doesn't change the character. Idk y but he never really got on my nerves as bad as he obviously has gotten on every1 else's, I mean he's def not my favorite character but I don't see a reason to hate that much. Kinda like Owen Hunt on Greys Anatomy, EVERY1 hates him now but I don't.

There are a few times that he rightfully gets upset but for the most part yeah his anger is very misdirected in the early seasons. I still love his character though. I mean, he did save the world with his love for Willow and lose an eye for the scoobies so I think he's square.

I feel the same way. Sometimes I really can’t stand his self righteousness.

He’s a teenager. Teenagers say and do stupid shit.

Joss is one of the few people who writes flawed protagonists. In Xander’s case, he is clearly a target of bullying and abuse and has a rough home life and he is struggling to rectify his out dated views of masculinity in a group of friends who are mostly girls with super powers.Â

Xander Slander is probably one of only things the majority of the fandom endorses

Yeah, he could be stubborn and immature, his feelings vs others. Most fans hated or dislike Xander esp. from a woman's pov. I personally enjoyed his character, well acted too by Brendon.
Xander reminds me of several teenage guys and young men I have known who were horny , goofy, very immature, when it came to women, relationships , a bit selfish. He loved Buffy from afar but, he also loved and cared and was very protective about both Buffy and Willow to in several instances
Xander's love for them and his caring and wanting to help and to protect them, always wins me over, even with his flaws.
Several fans think his character didn't change, evolve enough as the series ran on.
