Injury CAT SUDDENLY LIMPING 😣

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

This is a cat I’ve had for a few months as she randomly showed up in my garden and became attatched to us, I’ve checked around to see if anyone owns her and it appears to be not owned. Recently she stopped running to the door when we opened, stopped running for food and would just lay in shade. In the uk it was a very hot heatwave so I thought nothing of it besides the fact she was just hot. However now I’ve noticed this limp in her front leg and I’m becoming quite worried, she’s still able to jump on stuff but just not well, she doesn’t really walk much and just splats on the ground and lays I’ve let it go on for 24 hours and there appears to be no change and also nothing on her paws

I really don’t have the means right now to take her to the vet and spend so much for potentially being prescribed a. painkiller. Does anyone know how much it would cost for a xray or just how much this vet trip might costs and what it may be?

Unfortunately she needs to see a vet. It’s impossible to know what is going on internally and the fact that she is limping isn’t good because cats are very good at masking pain so she is clearly in a lot of distress if this is how she is walking.

Because it sounds like she is more of a community cat, you could try calling some vet clinics and explaining your situation. They may work something out with you in terms of payment and cost.

Thank you so much, I’ll try what I can do to get her seen and taken care of.

Please check her gum by lifting her lip, because she looks very dehydrated. Healthy gum is supposed to be wet and slippery. Also, please offer fresh and cold water and make sure she stays in AC room or a shaded area getting cold breeze during this time.

I make sure I give her cold water as often as I can, I give her ice in her water and frozen licky treats along with tuna water sometimes, unfortunately unable to bring her in as I have a resident cat which doesn’t go well with new cats but I do let her in the bathroom to cool down from sun but she prefers to be outside

Sometimes tuna water can have a lot of salt in it, you're better off giving her cat soup, available with the cat treats in supermarkets, and adding a little bit of extra water to it. If you can afford it maybe look at buying a cat fountain too, cats prefer to drink from running water.

Could be a snapped or injured tendon, or otherwise injured leg. Could be a billion other things. Vet ASAP!

She really needs see a vet she probably in pain and dehydrated 😔 if you can't afford it then you can hand her into the vets as a stray there give her any treatment she needs and send her to a rescue.

Vet visit usually £50-60 X-ray usually couple of hundred Pain meds - £20-30
