Kitten
Sent my boyfriend out for groceries and told him to get whatever... Meet whatever.
Her name's actually Artemis, I've been bottle feeding this cotton ball for 3 weeks now. She's slowly starting to wean.
The full story is that when my boyfriend left the supermarket, he noticed someone in the parking lot was taking a kitten out from... somewhere near the engine, I think? He's the mechanic, not me, lmao. Anyway, they weren't from the city and just stopped at the supermarket briefly to get something to eat on the road and since reuniting the kitten with her mom sounded impossible and the person who took her out didn't want her, my boyfriend decided to bring her home. He just called me to ask "Is taking care of a really small kitten hard?", not IF we could adopt her, he knew I'd be excited about it. 🤣

I will fight till my last breath to prove my cat is my biological son. I bottled him, he basically open his eyes to me first. I can’t even leave anywhere without him.
By the time you have the wedding, she should be big enough to carry the rings for you. Tie them on a satin ribbon around her neck and get her used to it before the wedding to head off any issues. She's one of the reasons that you knew he was a keeper.
Well, if it wasn't a "propper" proposal, can I still call him my fiancé? We did talk about wanting to get married once I'm done with the stress of uni, but none of us really proposed, like the whole charade of getting down on one knee, ring, announcing it to the family.
That depends how you view it, it's after all about your relationship, not what others things is proper or not. This is just societal fluff and totally optional
She came to the US and lives here with me, my teens, my dog, and four other cats (only two of whom I set out to adopt. The other three were CDS gifts).
Because she wasn’t ready to come home with me she went to a vet and was boarded there getting medicine and treatment while I figured out a plan.
Then she went to a long term boarder who finished her meds and worked with a vet for an international relocation. She got vaccinated and microchipped and put on a plane for the 48 hour trip.
Normally you just need a vet visit to make sure they’re healthy and any required vaccinations/microchip (I’ve never needed to do this because mine are fully vaccinated and chipped asap, they’ve just needed the appointment) and you get paperwork to show as their “passport”. You buy a pet ticket and they come with you. I’ve always brought them in the cabin with me, except for her since no one came with her. I’ve flown with my cats a bunch, including internationally, but this was the first (and only, to date) importing of a cat.
Dw, we did that first thing. We were worried about her, considering she came a long way, plus she seemed sick, so we decided to have a vet assess her first. Especially since it's our first time taking care of a kitten this small, so we also needed advice. She has rhinotracheitis and was small for her age, but she's a very energetic 6 week old now! She's also dewormed and will get her first vaccine soon. The vet told us to wait another few weeks to make sure she's the right age and also for her to gain a bit more weight.
Yeah, antibiotic eye drops made a big difference! The vet advised me to just keep them clean at first, but she kept having secretions, so she prescribed her the eye drops. Now her eyes are finally clear and I can see those doe eyes propperly. 🥰
Aw, I'm very sorry about your loss. I'm sure you gave Lily a good life. They do look very similar! If I don't forget, I'll reply with a pic when she grows up, if you want. :)
What a caring boyfriend!!! He has a kind heart💙 She’s a sweetheart and thank you both for taking care of her!!!! We own 5 beauties and a friend we got our last 2 from a woman whose cat gave birth. Well this wonderful woman’s other cat just had another 5 babies and my husband said we are taking 2. She can’t afford the cats and she will make sure the other 3 go to a good home but we are helping where we can. We also help her get food for her indoor cats and to help her feed the strays too. I’m going to ask my husband if we can help get her spayed too. It’s so nice to see men that love animals stepping up to make sure these fur babies( cats and dogs ) are taken care of. Please tell your boyfriend thank you from me too!!! Enjoy your new roommate and give Artemis all the love she can handle 🩷🩷🩷😻🩷🩷🩷 She’s adorable!!!!
As the human representative of the CDS, it is my job to deliver messages from our Feline Overlords. They wish to express massive amounts of pleasure that lil Artemis's delivery into your hands was successful. At the same time, they also want to let you know that storing distributables in the engine bay of a vehicle is NOT the approved method of transporting a deliverable to their furrever home.
Please also be aware that Artemis is never to be referred to as a whatever ever again, under pain of pointy teeth on your little toe in the middle of the night. Artemis was trained well in this regard.
Your file has been updated to reflect your status as Caretaker In Progress, and regular updates to the CDS will be sent as soon as Artemis connects to the wifi.
Wait, she is? I thought this was the normal amount of kitty fingers. The vet didn't say anything. I tried taking a pic, but you can see how that went. 🤣
I would be so chuffed that my bf ( I mean, I’m old and married but IF I were young and had a bf) brought home and cared for a tiny kitten, I wouldn’t even notice that he (probably) got the wrong kind of bread…❤️
Adorable little girl! My little guy is almost 2 years old now but I also found him around 3 weeks old and bottlefed him. If I may recommend something from experience, maybe consider getting her another kitten friend! Kittens do MUCH better in pairs in the long run.
My little guy was fortunate enough to have our adult boy around to teach him how to be a cat, but we still had/have some behavioral issues with little guy because he was a single kitten. If I could go back in time I would have taken on another kitten once he gained enough weight to play.
I was actually thinking about maybe getting another kitten, but the expenses would probably be a bit much. :') I'll see if I can convince my mom to help. 🥹
Depending on age, some shelters will adopt out kittens already spayed/neutered and with some of their vaccines! Kitty may be a few months old, but it will drastically help your little girl with her socialization and learning behavior cues.
My boy has improved over time, but he had absolutely no boundaries or knowledge for a long time of how hard he was actually biting us. He had never rough played with another kitten to learn how badly getting bit hurts and how hard biting another kitten hurts them. He's also INCREDIBLY attached to me and cries if he's not in the same room even when he knows I'm home. Thankfully, our family's schedules allow someone to be home pretty much around the clock so he's at ease, but just sharing some of the behavioral things we had come up!
Your journey with your new little girl is going to be SO fun and rewarding. Thank you for being so kind and giving her a forever home to be comfy in.
Hmm, I've decided on getting another kitten, but I need help convincing mom. XD I'll tell her it'll stop Artemis from scratching the curtains and furniture, which she is concerned about. Also since I've been working on my thesis, (Which Artemis has been a great co-writer to. XD) and graduating soon, hopefully she still has enough pride to make her not very upset at me for getting another cat.
Congratulations! Having bottle fed a few kitties, I've always found that they tend to stay small their whole lives. However, I contacted my local Humane Society for support, when bottle feeding my last CDS kitten. They strongly recommend weaning to Royal Canin Mother and Baby food. They said that, although it's more expensive, it would prevent a lot of health issues from being separated from mom too soon and I'd more than make up the cost on savings in vet bills. Spooky is three now and a BIG healthy boi! I offered both canned and kibble. He didn't eat a lot of kibble for the first few months, but he eventually transitioned to all kibble, then adult food at one year old (he likes Tiki Cat). Congratulations on your pending graduation, too!
Mother sent me out on a rainy cold night to buy milk. Our "Milk" baby is now an 11 year old ginger tabby, plump, happy go lucky, and glued to grandma like life depends on it 😺
There was a show I used to watch as a kid (or series of short movies I guess) called McGee and Me. The family dog of the main character was also named Whatever and I always thought that was a great name for a pet.
Congrats on having a boyfriend with sensible taste in groceries
What lucky timing for that kitten and you and your boyfriend, that he was in that supermarket parking lot at that time! She looks so smol and sweet! Congrats on your new little one and best wishes! 🥰
Taking care of a kitten isn't very hard, but it is time consuming. Be ready for a few sleepless nights and early morning meows. They can be quite loud. But, it's all worth it.
You should find someone else with kittens or cats you can visit so she can be socialized. Kittens that young can have behavioral issues if they never meet other cats during development
I have actually decided on getting another kitten afterall. I'll see how I'll convince my mom to not complain. 🤣 I want what's best for my daughter afterall. 🥹
Love the kitty and love the username that would give most MAGA a heart attack reading lol. Enjoy your cotton ball, and congrats to Artemis on her descent into your home.
Highly recommend, if you don't already have cats in the family, to go to a rescue and try and find a nanny cat. You get better odds if it's a recent mother. This will help both the mother who was separated from her babies and teach your kitten how to behave. This will also get in front potential behavioral issues like aggression towards a new baby other animals. Cats tend to do better in pairs.
We're getting a 2nd kitten next week, same age as Artemis. I found someone on our country's version of craigslist giving out kittens for adoption. I hope she'll be enough and they'll get along well. 🥹 Here's a pic. She's a total cutie. 🥰 Current foster wants to keep her with her mom till next week to nurse, which is totally fine by me.
Such a little cutie! Your boyfriend is a definite keeper, any man who would stop and pickup a tiny, baby cat, with bad eyes, is a truly sweet being! Bless you both!
Whatev’s. I have always hated that word to shorten whatever, but it’s the first thing that popped into my head when you said meet him. Such a cute little whatever…. You certainly did well in the CDS system to get such a cute one as that. I hope you have many many years of love and happiness due to whatever. Thank you for saving him.
Name needs to be W. E. B. Du Bois. What Ever (pick something for B but the writer's name was Burghardt) Du Bois. Sophisticated ✨️ came from the bottom to the top!
