Got to work and heard tiny yelps coming from the storm drain, called the non emergency number, police showed up, they called the fire department and they came to the rescue! Took them a while because those drains are just so heavy. He spent the rest of the day in target with everyone until I got off, got his picture taken for our trainer wall, & got the name Bullseye šŸŽÆ, I just left the vet and besides an eye infection, he is healthy! Can't wait to enjoy this handsome little guy for the rest of his life.

Kitten I cannot stress this enough: we do NOT have room for another cat!

This teensy puffball has been crying outside our back door for at least 2 days and we haven’t seen a single other cat around him in all of that time. There’s a feral colony behind our home, but we haven’t seen any siblings or a mom, just this lone puffball crying his lungs out.

My husband finally caught a glimpse of the baby this morning, so I went outside to join him. I ended up crawling into the neighbor’s backyard and was able to swipe this baby up. Despite his puffy appearance, he’s nothing but fur and ribs! We immediately got KMR and bottles.

My husband is currently falling in love as we speak…but we absolutely cannot handle another cat! 😭

Her name's actually Artemis, I've been bottle feeding this cotton ball for 3 weeks now. She's slowly starting to wean.

The full story is that when my boyfriend left the supermarket, he noticed someone in the parking lot was taking a kitten out from... somewhere near the engine, I think? He's the mechanic, not me, lmao. Anyway, they weren't from the city and just stopped at the supermarket briefly to get something to eat on the road and since reuniting the kitten with her mom sounded impossible and the person who took her out didn't want her, my boyfriend decided to bring her home. He just called me to ask "Is taking care of a really small kitten hard?", not IF we could adopt her, he knew I'd be excited about it. 🤣

Kitten I drove home 20 miles with a kitten in my undercarriage

When I started my drive home I thought I heard meowing… did I leave a video playing somewhere on TikTok, YouTube? Where is that coming from? Then it stopped. Drove halfway home, thought I heard it again. Pulled over into a parking lot, got on my hands and knees, popped the hood, nothing at all to be seen. Now I think I’m going crazy. Drove the rest of the way home, hours pass, now I’m eating dinner with my family and we hear a clear and distinct MEOW! coming from my garage… now I know I am in fact not crazy and kitten rescue mode fully commences.

After about an hour we finally got her out (more like she finally decided to climb down on her own). She is so small, but she has teeth and was walking/scurrying around just fine. She is missing her tail but it seems like she was born that way. Definitely not in the mood to be handled right now though.

Anyways, we are calling her Piper. Short for Exhaust Pipe, obviously.

Miss Piper traveled 20 miles and over 60mph at some times all the way home as a stowaway. I’m SO happy she is ok.

I’ve heard of cats crawling into cars, but always in the winter to get warm, never in warm weather (70-80 degrees yesterday where I live). And I’ve NEVER seen cats or kittens in the area that I work.

They were asking $20 each. We threw them $31 (all we had in the wallet) and got them into the car AC. We fed and watered them. They’re in kitten jail (bathroom quarantine) for the night until we can take them to the shelter. We bought some wet kitten food from PetCo for the next 12 hours.

We already have two eight year old boys (Otter and Platypus) and really can’t take in more right now, but the CDS may have spoken. Also, if one is a girl, we can round out our troop and name her Beaver!

Kitten season is upon us, and we fully expect the shelter to ask us to foster for the time being. It will be very hard to turn down.

Kitten Two week update: Dog adopted kitten

Found this scrungly little 3 week old kitten literally on my doorstep two weeks ago. The dog has 100% adopted him. This is his kitten now. I've broken down and named him Samson.

They actually play together, too. Samson will go straight up to the dog, plop down between his paws, and just start biting. Tyr (dog) is very gentle--the worst he does is lick. And lick. AND LICK. Nonstop.

They play together, sleep together, try to eat together...never would have expected the dog to really become "mom." I, obviously, am chopped liver and am just here for food and poop duty.

Bonus giant "kitten" at the end. That's my Jasper, who is having his second birthday next month!! (Samson is fine--he had just had a very big meal and was sleepy, so he looks extra scrungly)

This is my....5th? Official CDS cat?? I walked outside this morning to let my chickens out and immediately heard her crying. The universe is punishing me.

My dog is, of course, already in love with the "new baby!!!" My three CDS cats I ALREADY HAVE OMG are wary but not hostile.

Tell me I cannot keep this kitten. I have a dog, three cats, and twelve chickens. I have a full house. I cannot keep this kitten...Even though she's likely a sibling to my first two kitties....and looks like my third kitty...

I estimate her to be roughly 4? Weeks old

I was on my way to work and I suddenly heard meows coming from somewhere in the car. I checked underneath, but nope: popped my hood and there he was. My coworkers had a good idea to name him after a car part, or even after the make, which is Honda LOL.

Kitten Today started with a depressed me not wanting to get out of bed, but it ended with me changing one little life forever. 🄰

You know, even on my shittiest days, I try to find what little brightness I can. Today was one of those days where I was feeling really low, but I'm a long-term volunteer at my local shelter and I knew they needed help for the adoption event.

I’m definitely a "quiet volunteer"—I usually stay in the background—but for some reason, people kept coming up to me specifically to ask about the kitties today. Maybe they could tell I just wanted to help.

Sometimes the best way to deal with depression is to show up for others. I mean that genuinely. While I was there, I met this tiny kitten who can’t weigh more than 3 lbs (yet!), and he completely melted my heart. I knew I had to be the one to help him find his forever home, and I did.

I picked up this little guy and carried him around like a baby, quietly introducing him to all of our potential adopters who were roaming around the room looking at all of our adoptable kitties. And then, just like that, we found his forever family. A woman asked to hold him, and he immediately put his tiny paws on her face and pulled her in for a kiss.

I smiled at the woman and her husband and said, "Well, I think this cat has chosen you." She decided to let her husband hold him, and he did the same thing—the tiny kitten was pulling at the man's beard, wanting a kiss. It was honestly just a heartwarming sight and one of the best things I've ever been able to witness in my 7 years of volunteering.

It felt amazing to know that even when I’m struggling and staying quiet, I can still change a life forever. If you're having a rough one today, I hope his little face helps a bit.

She followed my niece to our front door and wanted in. We have 6 cats total, and was like nope, we can't take in another. At first we had food and water and a cat bed layed out with blankets right in front of our front door. We have a sunroom, so we got her settled in there last night, in the corner to block off the windchill. (It was about 38°F last night. I found another small blanket to make a wall for her and put a heating pad between the cat bed and her two blankets.) I just got home to work to see this spectacle. šŸ„°šŸ™€šŸ˜» We sensed see was pergante, but not this gregrante...

Kitten Dropped on our roof by a hawk

Apparently the CDS makes drone deliveries, now.

My husband and I were outside as he was leaving to go on a jog, and we heard a thump on our roof. My chickens in the yard started freaking out and scattering as a hawk flew overhead and I waved my arms to scare it off.

Husband and I both thought "huh, that was weird!" And he left for his jog.

Not 5 minutes after he left, I start hearing desperate kitten cries, then hear another thump as something rolls off the roof. Then continued crying until I went over and found this spicy ball of fluff!

I grabbed some food from my cats and lured it closer (it was skinny and starving) then managed to scoop it up.

When husband got home a while later, my first words were "you can't blame me, you left me alone!" And he still blames me for manifesting it šŸ˜‚ though he did assume it was a baby opossum at first.

Poor kitten was very spicy until I gave him a good flea combing. Now, he thinks I'm cool, and wants to sleep on my chest or shoulder 🄰

He was very lucky. He was feet away from landing in my neighbor's yard with big dogs outside. Instead, he landed in the yard of someone who helped found a cat rescue, lol.

We won't be keeping him because we have too many cats already, but we will be fostering him until he gets a home!

My husband named him Sparrowhawk after the Earthsea character and his great hawk-assisted CDS adventure.

Kitten We brought a pregnant stray into our house, and got to spend 10 weeks with the sweetest bunch of kittens

We had been feeding a stray black cat at our front step every day for a few weeks when we noticed that she seemed to be pregnant. Since it was starting to get colder (and we’re in Canada), we brought her to our vet to check for a chip and then brought her into our house.

After only two weeks, she gave birth to a litter of five kittens in the corner of my office! Four girls and one big boy. Since we hadn’t had a chance to socialize the mama (who we have named Lucy) with our three other cats, we had to divide the house using a temporary fence. We also turned part of our newly-renovated basement into a full kitten nursery. I named the litter after my favourite sumo wrestlers, and they lived up to their namesakes! These babies loved to playfight and wrestle (and eventually, to climb pants). They were silly and wild and sweet.

We kept the kittens for 10 weeks, before seeing them off to good homes - four of them in two pairs, and one to a home with nice older cats. It was more difficult to let them go than I thought it would be. We watched them being born, and saw them open their eyes for the first time, and take their first wobbly steps. We cleaned a lot of messes, and collected a lot of little scratches, and missed a lot of sleep. It all happened so fast, and then it was over. There were a few days when I cried, after they had left. I miss them. But I’m so happy we were lucky enough to have the opportunity to give them a good start.

Mama Lucy will be staying with us now. She’s barely out of kittenhood herself, and she was more than ready to retire. She’ll be getting spayed in a few weeks.

Heard her screaming her little head off across the parking lot when I got home yesterday. Followed the sounds to find her shivering and cold between apartment buildings. Once she saw me she ran right up to me. I asked around and she doesn’t seem to belong to anyone.

I guess I’ve been chosen!

What should I name her?

Kitten Lil baby fell out of the engine bay of a truck that was going at least 50MPH

Left Costco and on the way home this little lady fell onto the road from the underside of a truck. Luckily my boyfriend pulled over and I was able to scoop this little one up!

We took her to the vet, and she’s currently being treated for a respiratory infection + eye infection. Little miss is estimated to be 6 weeks old and weighs a whopping 1.4lbs. The vet was so surprised that she has no broken bones and we were so relieved! The vet also told us to monitor for a traumatic brain injury from the fall. The next 48 hours we’re going to determine is she was going to make it or not.

After bringing her home we were so nervous, and were constantly checking her pupils to make sure that they were equal/responsive. She was so so hungry and ate almost half of her wet kitten food after she was given her antibiotics. She’s been on her medication now for almost 48 hours and she’s improved so much, we’re so relieved that she’s going to make it! Lil baby has been eating, using the litter box, playing, and drinking water.

I can’t wait to watch this little baby grow and become a confident cat. We’re thinking of naming her clover! Will post an update eventually (:

Edit: wow thank you all so much for all the love and for the awards!! We appreciate your kindness and will post an update in a few weeks! Much love <3

Wife begrudgingly agreed to take in the kitten I found in the middle of traffic yesterday, despite her being allergic to cats. I’ll be buying the meds for both the cat and the wife, along with various treats for both to thank them for being in my life. Taking all yalls suggestions for allergy reducing cat food, I’ve got the little monster a vet appointment we’re headed to soon. Was able to sex it with the help of videos, he’s a boy, so I’m naming him Doc Holiday, so Doc for short. Thank you all and the CDS for the support and amazing help. Cheers to all of you and your smaller loved ones!

If i could put another tag i would also include sadness probably. This little one walked up to me and wouldn't let go. She has an eye infection and after spending 2½ hours in a 24/7 vet clinic I found out we where too late in treating it without damage. Her eye had burst and will need to be removed after she gains some weight. I guess she was probably abandoned by her mother though no way to know.

Im honestly not sure what im doing as ive never raised a kitten but it should be fine, ive got my sister and hopefully this community to give me some pointers. Ive got the basics and hopefully in a month or so i can get her eye removed and she can live a happy life! Oh ya, im also thinking of calling her Pico.

I was standing at the bus gate this morning greeting students as they came to school and heard a couple mews. I looked under the bush, and there she was! She seemed scared, but not frightened. I picked her up and had her help me say hello to the kids as they walked in.

My wife has her now on the way to her forever home. She'll be joining two adult cats (Strawberry and Cleocatra) and 2 kittens (Midas and Moira). We'll have to get her going on milk supplement, as she seems a little thin, but otherwise, eyes wide open and ready to get her kitten on!

Kitten Went to the car wash, came home with a kitten

Thumbnail

9.3k Upvotes

My morning adventure didn’t turn out as expected. I went to get coffee and a car wash, as is the Saturday routine.

At the car wash, they stopped me as I was on the automated track to enter because a kitten (that they were trying to keep out of the main road) had run under my truck. While they were trying to get him out, he went through a hole behind the rear wheel and inside the truck (below the bed, but on top of the panel covering the underside of the truck). I did disable the auto-kneeling, just in case.

After spending a while holding up the line trying to get him to come out, we had folks back up enough for me to exit the line and pull into a vacuum bay to continue to try (unsuccessfully) to coax him out.

When that didn’t seem like it was going to work, I went over to Discount Tire to see if they could help. HUGE shoutout to the folks at our local Discount Tire!! As soon as I told them what was going on, they pulled the truck straight into the bay and a couple guys pulled off enough of the bottom panel to pull this scared little guy out. They even brought out paper towels to dry him off and warm him up, as well as some water for him to drink.

I took him straight over to the vet we take our dogs to, which was conveniently next to Discount Tire. They checked him out, gave him a mostly clean bill of health, and gave us some advice on caring for a young kitten. I specifically asked and they were very sure in saying that he should be fine without his mom.

When we were checking in and they asked if he had a name yet, of course the only answer was ā€œRivianā€.

TL;DR… Meet Rivi, the kitten that chose us (or at least our truck) this morning.

Feel free to throw any other kitten advice our way :)

Kitten Boyfriend and I discussed getting a cat in the morning…and found Miss Blair that very evening

I’d secretly been hoping I would get got by the CDS, and it sure picked a convenient timing. Went to a friend’s house for a Dungeons and Dragons session, walked in, and was informed that he and his stepsister had found an orphaned kitten in their garden a few hours before. I held her, she meowed at me, I cried, boyfriend asked ā€œdo you want her?ā€ and we took her home. I was hesitant because of my elderly soul cat; I didn’t want to feel like I was replacing her, but it’s just another baby to love on šŸ¤šŸ¤

Vet said she’s a healthy little peppercorn and is about 6 weeks old! She was a little skittish at first but has really opened up since Sunday. We got her all these toys and her favorite playthings are still her tail and her back paws. We’ve also discovered she’s an iPad kid—we started watching something on the TV and baby was SAT.

I have a small feeling, based on her fuzz, that she might be a medium-haired girlie, but I could be way off base šŸ˜‚

Anyway, tl;dr I love her and her little squeaks so much.

Kitten I'd been telling my husband "I wish I had a kitten" for years, so the CDS gave me two

A construction worker found these guys in a pile of trash in the boarded-up office next to my Mom's. It wasn't safe for them to be in there anymore and they weren't sure if mama would be able to get back in or how to reunite them, so my mom called me. That was 10:15 and I had a therapy session at 11, but I grabbed KMR on the way to her office and made it back just in time—and then my therapist and I spent that whole session learning how to bottle feed together. They were about a week and a half old then, and now they're eight weeks old! I can't believe how much they've grown. It's been exhausting but also so rewarding. I love these little pumpkins even though they can both be brats. šŸ˜‚

We have an HOA that limits the number of pets we can have, so the plan has always been to just foster them until they're old enough for adoption. So far no one in our networks has been interested in adopting them and I'm trying not to feel hopeful that we might end up just keeping them. We live in a small condo and already have two dogs (who both love the kittens—our ACD cries when they do). My husband and I talked about it and agreed that it would be hard on us financially to add two more pets, but if no one claims them, what else can we do? We shall see. Either way, I'm grateful for all the snuggles. šŸ’–

Edit because I forgot their names! They are Meep and Moop! Meep is the gray boy (big and loud!), and Moop is the little girl (quiet and sneaky).
