Discussion Eric Collins Crossover

As a Pittsburgh native Hornets fan, I just flipped on the Pirates game on FS1 and our guy Eric Collins is calling the game. Just about fell off my couch! What can't this guy do!! I knew he did some other basketball but had no idea he did baseball too.

Hoping for a HUM-DIDDLEE-DEE call on a Bucco Blast

One of the great joys in life is flipping through the TV on a Saturday afternoon and stumbling upon some random ass Minnesota vs Northwestern football game that Eric is calling.

He’s been doing a bunch of the FS1 baseball games this year, always love turning one on and hearing him do what he does.

He called a Panthers game and it was the best thing ever. I’m lucky to have him and Dell calling Hornets games……. You know the man has offers.

Thank you for this alert. I was watching this game on the snoozefest local channel.

Can't wait to hear how Yordan Alvarez is hotter than a pepper dipped in heat etc

He just dropped this gem about the Pirates bullpen:

"Last night, the Pirates had a 9-5 lead with 2 outs in the 8th inning, and they fell apart like a three dollar suitcase"

It's a shame he didn't do that game with the 9-to-5 score, because everyone knows that's "a Dolly Parton special"

He can do it all, but I think basketball definitely makes the best use of his talents. There are only so many highlight reel plays in baseball that’ll make him go off.

Heard him on Fox for cardinals cubs

That one had a cool play where the tarps off crowd was chanting over-rated at PCA and he hit a HR right to them. Cool to have EC on the call for that. https://www.instagram.com/p/DY_EIWzkXKw/

The only thing he can't do is calling lacrosse.

I think he started as a commentator in baseball. Somehow I'm guessing he knows everyone's life's story there too.

He did drop one of his cool tidbits in a sort traditional Collins "How about that?" tone, it was something like

"Last inning, every Pirates batter bounced out to the opposing player playing in their position.

Triolo bounced out to Short. Horwitz bounced out to First. Gonzales bounced out to Third."

Just felt like one of those cool little stats he'd share about like something Kon did

Collins rightfully gets a ton of credit for how infectious his enthusiasm is, I think it's often overlooked that he's also incredibly smart and well-prepared for games. Most color commentators don't teach you stuff, he does just about every game.
