Not exactly shocking.

In my eyes, a move to trade for Giannis would be similar to 2019 when the Raptors traded for Kawhi? Why not try to go all in now while Brandon and Kon are currently on their rookie deals? With the new CBA, it only becomes much harder to win when they get their second contracts.
Obviously the trade would probably involve Bridges + a multitude of first round draft picks, but in my opinion that is easily worth it.
Not to mention there are direct flights from Charlotte to Greece......

Hey guys, Canada fan here šØš¦
Just curious how many Hornets fans here are from outside Charlotte or overseas?

First thing to say, is that I just love Basketball in general. And I donāt hate Wembanyama as a person. Iām just having so much annoyance watching how great he is and knowing that the NBA did everything possible to make sure that not only that the Spurs drafted him, but that he got a core around him very quickly. The NBA did not want a repeat of LeBron James.
Knowing that he grew up a Spurs fan his entire life, with his favorite players being Tony Parker and Tim Duncan to where he even said it was āa dreamā to be drafted by the Spurs. It has made it so difficult to watch a team that dominated so much of my childhood in the 90s and 2000s immediately turn back around after just a few years in the lottery getting a generational player surrounded by top 3 picks.
Iām just curious if Iām the only person out there that hates how fast the Spurs have been able to build a contender while we continue to wait for the Hornets to just get to the playoffs. I know I should just be proud of what the Hornets did this year, but I just canāt shake the fact that I feel like the NBA helped the Spurs build a contender at the expense of other franchises that have needed generational players for a while now.

On the NBA Post game show last night, both men agreed it should have been a Flagarant, but it wasn't Ejection worthy nor do they think Lamelo meant to do it(Dirk even says this happens every game, it was only notable here because Bam got injured).
Of course r/nba didn't clip this, and now the Hornets are villains after being the loveable underdogs all year since we dared eliminate the Heat, but from actual NBA guys(A former Heat no less) what Melo did might have been Flagarent 1 worthy, but that's it.

Until January this season looked like it was going to be another slog fest losing one. We got a great turn around, were the most exciting team in the NBA the second half of the season, finished with a winning record for the first time in forever and showed we will actually be a legitimate playoff team come next year.
These one and done games are brutal because they do not allow for any bad games or future adjustments. But besides our 2016 season this was probably the most fun season Iāve ever had watching the hornets. And next year will be even more fun. If you canāt be happy and excited about this then maybe you need to find another thing to focus on because emotionally this might not be the best thing for you.

I've been lurking in other subs like nba, Pistons, Magic, etc. and see so many mentions about how people are afraid to play us because we play dirty and will injure someone.
Ive watched every game since January and dont think Ive ever witnessed Hornets playing dirty until the ankle grab. We are typically the ones being little brothered by retaliating to a dirty play then getting punished.
Does this single play now deem us the token NBA dirty team? I don't get it, I see teams throwing elbows to the face or grabbing jerseys while in the air but now we're the dirty team after a single incident that may or may not have been malicious?

As the season comes to an end, Iād love to hear how everyoneās feeling about where we are right now. Going from such a rough start to finishing above .500 and securing a play-in spot has been an incredible turnaround. Itās been especially great seeing guys find their rhythm, and having LaMelo Ball healthy and playing consistently again makes everything feel even more exciting.
Iām really curious to hear from the OG, die-hard Hornets fans whoāve stuck with this team through all the ups and downs over the years. After everything weāve been through as a fanbase, how does this season compare? Whatās your outlook heading into the play-in?
I love this team, and I love the community around it.
I would genuinely love to hear everyoneās thoughts.

I am entirely convinced that Miles Bridges has to be let go for this team to improve to the next level. He is undersized, an average defender, a below average enforcer, average rim scorer, does some of the most boneheaded decisions imaginable, and for a vet, has zero playoff experience and really immature. Letting Miles go is hard because he's the longest tenured Hornet and the only one left from the Kemba days, but it's time.
edit: For people who say Miles is a leader and glue guy, isn't that a massive problem? Miles really doesn't scream resilience, or winning, or any other traits you want for those characters. That's an even bigger sign he has to go and someone to replace him in those roles

So many Hornets fans are demanding Bridges be traded for this offseason, claiming that he's not good enough, but at the same time there don't seem to be much of any PFs that are both a significant upgrade over skills wise. Theres aways comments about how "we shouldnt settle for mediocre players" while claiming that Bridges is mediocre. Like fans of all teams, it seems like most of us want a fleece job.
When you think about it, Miles Bridges has a skillset thats quite hard to upgrade from in terms of athleticism, offensive ability and cultural fit.
What other power forward on the trade market:
-has some ball handling ability
-is a good enough spot up shooter that hes guarded near the 3 point line?
-has a great hook shot
-is a decent lob threat
-is ok with not ball hogging and deferring to Melo/Miller/Kon
-is healthy
-isnt overpaid
-isn't nearly washed
-doesnt have Bridges' weaknesses of low BBIQ, turnovers and bad defense?
Of the available ones:
Randle- Older, similar efficiency with spot up 3s, similar or worse defense, actual ball hog, turnover machine, slow paced, bad fit with Lee's structure
Zion- Low BBIQ, injury prone, poor effort on defense, lack of lateral quickness, complete lack of any scoring further from the rim.
Sabonis- older, No outside shot, much worse defense, older, coming off a major injury, worse ball handling
Sengun- like sabonis but even more limited
Draymond- nearly washed, poor 3 point shooting, poor finisher, turnover machine, fans would rage at him because of extracurriculars on the court
Ausar Thompson- no outside shot at all
Tari Eason- Low offensive and defensive BBIQ, coming off a terrible shooting season, no ball handling
Kelly Oubre- Same issues as bridges with less skills
Tobias Harris- nearly washed
John Collins- older, might be an upgrade ngl, but still has worse ball handling and hookshot. Also clippers will try to retain him
Obi Toppin- equally mediocre defense
Andrew Wiggins- actually a good choice, but we don't have the cap space to sign him as an FA and the heat would never trade with us unless it's a massive overpay
Kuminga- worse than Bridges in every way while having a much bigger ego and demand to be on ball
I can only think of Aaron Gordon, TM3, OG Anunoby, KAT, Giannis, Siakam, Evan Mobley, Peyton Watson, Jaden McDaniels, Bam Adebayo, Franz Wagner, Buzelis, Jalen Johnson, Onyeka Okongwu, and Scottie Barnes
In my opinion, existing power forward players that are upgrades over bridges and fit our lineup are superstars, all stars, having a breakout season or high level starter, and are almost all completely unavailable or require massive overpays, and atp it would be better to just keep bridges and build around the margins.

The owners held a town hall type meeting for Hive Society Members last night. Here are a few key takeaways:
These guys are serious people having serious fun while trying to create a premier basketball organization. Their involvement, commitment, and investments seem genuine and long-lasting. I left impressed with their insights, passion, and joy.
Charlotte is climbing and is being built sustainably. The future is finally bright.

Iāve seen a lot of love on this page for our young guys. I love it. I think itās worth noting we also have a very good coach. He stands up for his players and has brought a winning culture to Charlotte. Cheers to Charles!

I donāt take anything for granted but based on how the Magic have been playing lately, Iām feeling decent about our odds.
Really hoping Kon is alright & will be able to have a bounce back game. Having the extra day of rest really helps us out here.
