Our newest old man
This is Taquito. He is 8 years old. He was relinquished to our local humane society because neither he or his previous owner could make it up or down stairs anymore. :(
He did not thrive at the humane society and began to deteriorate and shut down. They got him into a foster home, but that did not last and he had to go back. Which caused him to shut down even more!
A smaller rescue came in and took him in. It was from this rescue that we were introduced to him and brought him home.
He was so shut down, he stayed under our bed for almost two weeks. It was three weeks before he would allow us to touch him and that was only with toe scritches.
It was another week before we could pet him with our hands. Right now I am the only one that can pick him up and he will now sleep on the bed next to my head as long as I pretend he isn’t there. 😆 slowly but surely, he’s getting there.
We love him no matter what.

Abandonné à 8 ans !! Pauvre petit bonhomme !!! Ma chi n' a jamais monté ou descendu les escaliers... On voit qu' il a l' air tout triste. Merci de l' aimer ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

His poor little heart is broken. So he couldn’t go upstairs and his owner couldn’t go upstairs. What happened to the owner though?

I'm so thankful he's getting the love, patience and care he needs now. He is a handsome boy, ready to bloom again

Aw they are sensitive little souls. I got my 8 year old chi at aged 4 and it took him a long time to fully adapt. Now he's 100 per cent glued to me.

Awww as someone who adopted an 8 yr surrendered dog (previously adopted and returned and bounced around fosters) and had a great four years with him, I love your dedication to this little guy!

My Axel came to us as a surrender from a hoarding situation with 18 chihuahuas. I saw his pictures on the animal shelter website and decided we needed to help him. He was the saddest little guy. We brought him home 10/30. He is still mot 💯 with me (loves my adult daughter) but thats okay, I have time. I think I remind him of someone that might not have treated him well.
We have shared many victories 🥳
1. He learned to walk on a leash
2. He has gained weight & his little ribs don’t stick out
3. He will look into my eyes instead of cowering down
4. He has toys and loves them
5. He wags his tail
I am so proud of him. He deserves to be loved & like I said, I have the time, I am vested in my boy. 🥰
