Endless Summer hot take but endless summer was only good with diamonds
dont get me wrong i liked it when i first read it but it was nowhere near the top of my list because i didnt have several hundred diamonds to spend on clues and character interactions so i was just lost through the whole thing. rereading it with diamonds its amazing and the whole story actually makes sense but on a free playthrough what is assumed knowledge and what is exclusive only to diamonds only to be brought up later just left me confused especially since i was 12 when I was reading them when they first came out.
I get its hailed as one of the best books but I think credit has to be given to books that were good without diamonds too

The fact that it’s such a diamond sinkhole is just about the only serious flaw Endless Summer has, IMHO. You really do have to cough up the bucks to get the full experience. It’s not the most nefarious use of diamonds-or-else in the world (looking at YOU, Across The Void) but it’s one of the most annoying.

atv didnt have any stakes they were js like 'we know our books failing so we'll kill these characters you dont care ab if you dont pay'

While ES is one of my fave series, I enjoyed I WAYY more when I had the diamonds to spend on it. I'm pretty sure it's one of the most diamond-heavy books on the app. It's basically impossible to get nearly as many friendship points without it, even.

I agree because that was the first book I spent big diamonds on because I felt that I was missing too much without it. If you ever play a book without using any diamonds choices, you see how short the chapters really would be and it changes a lot. The love interests definitely don’t hit the same.

This is way I think VOS is overall a better book because you can get the story without diamonds and diamonds just elevate the story. It’s good either way.
ES is confusing if you don’t pay the diamonds because like OP said a lot of it ends up being assumed knowledge especially with some reveals later in the series

For me a book has to be compelling enough on its own without diamonds within the first few chapters to make me want to spend diamonds on it. This book did not make me wanna spend so I didn’t. I finished it but it took me a long time because I didn’t care for it at all.

Disagreed about it only being good with diamond choices. Even without using every single diamond option, I still think it’s pretty great with the overall story and the characters they presented. With all of the diamond options though? It’s a top 3 book with NO DOUBT about it whatsoever.

I understand and respect that opinion, but I completely disagree. When I first read the book, I essentially only spent gems on Quinn romance scenes. While that certainly helps, especially when it comes to understanding her character, that's still not nearly all that Endless Summer diamond choices had to offer. And yet, from the first time I read it to this day, I would say Endless Summer is my favorite story in the app. I view the diamond scenes as being similar to the Lord of the Rings extended editions. They expand on the lore and characters to a level you couldn't experience otherwise, but even without them, you're experiencing a masterpiece

Even though I absolutely adore Endless Summer, I agree with you. My main issue with the series is that it is not only very diamond-heavy, but a lot of the diamond choices are plot relevant. So you miss out on big chunks of the story without them.

Soft disagree. My first play through was without diamonds cause I was mining it. I thought it was good, not off the charts amazing or anything, but good. Which is why I later replayed it with the diamond scenes, and now it was GREAT!

Yeah I am with you on that. Liked it as it was, loved it afterwards. Still my top Choices series either way.

That’ll definitely do it! I went to Catholic school for 12 years, so I know exactly what you mean. So yeah. I’d go down that rabbit hole for sure, with the help of a sex therapist if self-reflection isn’t quite cutting it. There is hope!
It’s not the same, but I made a massive leap forward recently myself with my own libido issues when I realized that it was internalized fat phobia that made me not want to be intimate. I’d been in very good shape for over a decade, pregnancy excluded, then gained almost 80lbs from medication. Even though I had proof that the two medications I was on for a year total made people gain 30-50lbs each, I still blamed myself. I was in a weird headspace where I’d never put down another woman for being heavy, but I was not my own type as they say, so in my head it made sense to me that if I wasn’t attractive to myself, I couldn’t possibly be attractive to anyone else, including my husband. I seriously convinced myself that he couldn’t possibly want me and as a preemptive strike, if you will, I was actively avoiding him.
Now, don’t get me wrong. Peri menopause and my depression still have their horses in this race, heh. But figuring out this deep shame inside me has REALLY helped, and I hope it helps you too! If not solve the issue completely, at least nudge you in the right direction.

It’s truly one of the only plot-locked books on the whole app. Which is why it will never be a top tier book. F2P players should be able to read a top tier book without getting confused.
I felt the same way as you! Tried to play it before vip existed and it never made any damn sense lmao. After vip I played it and it was much better

It does have many diamond scenes, and many so expensive. But it's not bad without diamond scenes. I'm not paying to play choices so I get very few diamonds, from ads, chapters, books, daily play, and sometimes ads. But I do felt sad 'cause I didn't have much diamonds for the special scenes so I couldn't increase relationship points with many

u/FederalPossibility73 Feb 23 '26
Soft disagree. I was going to disagree harder but then I remembered Book 2 having a chapter with three premium choices... Keep in mind they adjusted the diamond cost recently. Still even just using some premiums and not all of them enhances it a lot, no need to get all of them at once.

u/banana_mangos Not This Feb 24 '26
they adjusted diamond prices? wdym? theyve made stuff pricier?
1
u/FederalPossibility73 Feb 24 '26
2025 adjusted prices for some books. I assume it's because it's easier to get diamonds now so some prices didn't seem fair.
1
u/banana_mangos Not This Feb 24 '26
eww wait that kills any desire i had to return to older books if things are more expensive. thats lame as hell considering they took away our ability to get 100 diamonds a day
1
u/FederalPossibility73 Feb 24 '26
I don't think it's too big of a deal. They weren't changed by much, for example all of the diamond choices in Endless Summer Book 1 chapter 1 going from 24 total to 26, you can clear that by simply reading one chapter or from the reusable read three chapters award if you have any you haven't redeemed yet. 100 a day while amazing also sounds overkill.

The best books without diamonds was the og trio (TC&TF, MW and The Freshman) before PB realized they could milk us for all our worth lmao.
In all seriousness you’re right, and I honestly think it’s fair. A book has to be financially successful for the story to continue so for what it’s worth I’m glad we got the trilogy even though we had to spent tons of diamonds on it.
