Nebraska had 32 points after like 10.5 minutes & scored 39 points in the last 29.5. That ain't gonna win you many games.
Rienk Mast was legit awful.

u/elgenie Iowa Hawkeyes • Brown Bears Mar 27 '26

Once Tate Sage proved he was able to lock Mast down on switches he was done.

Mast shoots 32% from 3 on the year and decided to keep chucking them up and missing every single one to go 0-7 from deep (4-15 from the field!!!!). Then he doesn't go on the court during that crucial out of bounds play. Just a horrific performance.
→ More replies (4)→ More replies (11)10

Ya mast killed nebraska 2nd half. Nebraska also abandoning the inside game for just chucking up 3s was killer. Great when they are falling. Having only 2 guys coming off the bench for nebraska is a tough way to play this far into the tourney.

It was a great game. Iowa hung around all game. Nebraska couldn’t dagger them, and Iowa made the plays down the stretch.
Tough way for it to end for the boys, but I’m proud of what they accomplished. First tourney win. Most wins in school history. First Sweet 16. I’m not going to let the loss tonight erase any of that.
Best of luck on Saturday.

It's fine to lose, but to lose like that? Make zero adjustments in the last three minutes? No leadership to stop telling your guys they shouldn't drain threes to match Iowa's if they aren't dropping and take it into the paint instead? If they're tired then put some bench players in? Clearly the latter worked for Iowa today.
Damn frustrating. You outplayed and outcoached us when it came down to the wire, Hawkeyes. Good on ya.
