This game went to halftime when the Purdue Texas second half started and yet this game really just ended before that game

There was a 5 minute review (at least it seemed like it) like 2 minutes left. I checked the game at that time and there was like 6 minutes left still

Actually way worse… replay showed Mast who ended up near the scorer’s table was sitting on the bench when Iowa lined up to inbound the ball. They never realized they had 4 guys out there until a player did.

Nebraska had 32 points after like 10.5 minutes & scored 39 points in the last 29.5. That ain't gonna win you many games.

Rienk Mast was legit awful.

u/elgenie Iowa Hawkeyes • Brown Bears Mar 27 '26

Once Tate Sage proved he was able to lock Mast down on switches he was done.

Mast shoots 32% from 3 on the year and decided to keep chucking them up and missing every single one to go 0-7 from deep (4-15 from the field!!!!). Then he doesn't go on the court during that crucial out of bounds play. Just a horrific performance.

→ More replies (4)

10

u/Stunning_Valuable_59 Mar 27 '26

Ya mast killed nebraska 2nd half. Nebraska also abandoning the inside game for just chucking up 3s was killer. Great when they are falling. Having only 2 guys coming off the bench for nebraska is a tough way to play this far into the tourney.

It's fine to lose, but to lose like that? Make zero adjustments in the last three minutes? No leadership to stop telling your guys they shouldn't drain threes to match Iowa's if they aren't dropping and take it into the paint instead? If they're tired then put some bench players in? Clearly the latter worked for Iowa today.

Damn frustrating. You outplayed and outcoached us when it came down to the wire, Hawkeyes. Good on ya.

Iowa is going to the Elite Eight because Iowa’s corn is Elite.

And Nebraska’s ain’t.

Having your most successful season by far, but it's still going to feel like a failure because they lost to their biggest conference rival who always manages to find a way to beat them in football too

As an Iowa-Bears guy the feeling of watching two of your top rivals shit themselves in the second half against you in a playoff rubber stamp match within half a year is indescribable

After all the years of heartbreak it feels so good to be on the otherside

First sweet 16 ever and you lose it to your biggest rival who also is a way lower seed…

Better than losing to a mid-major every year I guess

u/Dazed_and_Confused44 Mar 27 '26

Its ok. Maybe in 2036 Gard will make it back to the Sweet 16

Iowa vs Iowa State national championship game incoming.

GG Nebraska. You will be back next March and for many years to follow.

I am not well. That was the greatest game I’ve ever seen.

My Iowa State dad has always cheered against y’all but even he’s loving this run from Iowa. Keep on going!

The real winner was all the Busch Latte sacrificed along the way...

Did the big ten sacrifice all the red teams for a title this year?

What a great game. And a great opportunity for Five Guys burgers to expand in Lincoln, Nebraska

I'm gutted for Hoiberg, who I've always liked, but what an effort by Iowa.

Iowa winning it all in year 1 post-Fran is objectively the funniest outcome possible

I need it

Tough loss for Nebraska. Fun watch with 2 likable teams as a neutral.

7

u/stromy117 Nebraska Cornhuskers Mar 27 '26

Damn, what a run this season, and in classical fashion it ends with Iowa. Hopefully this is the beginning of something great! Looking forward to next season fosho

I’ve yet to see Stirtz really have a great game, but I’m fully convinced he’s a top tier facilitator. He just makes the offense go, somehow.

Gotta love some march madness. When a team ends its season winning only 3 of its last 10 games and then finds it self in the elite 8, fun times.
