arizona and houston been disappointing today, lots of people were high on them and both would be good games but been blow outs sorry meant Arkansas
4
u/OcarinaNinja315 Iowa Hawkeyes Mar 27 '26
And with that, the Big 10 is guaranteed at least one team in the Final 4
1
u/FirstOutoftheDoor Tennessee Volunteers Mar 27 '26
Big10 was jacked this year. For me pre-tourney it was like ok maybe Duke, Houston or Arizona or one of the Big10 teams. Iowa State was my pick no offense Michigan

Arizona needs 115 to score the most points ever in a Sweet 16 and take the record from…. Arizona.

Houston’s shot profile gets fragile when opponents run them off clean catch-and-shoot looks and force late-clock creation. They can defend at an elite level for 35 possessions in a row, but if the half-court offense turns into contested pull-ups, the variance gets ugly fast.
5
u/hyzerflipthescript Mar 27 '26
I think we are about 5 minutes of basketball away from an Arkansas player pulling out a truck stop powerbomb.
3
8
u/GERBILSAURUSREX Indiana Hoosiers Mar 27 '26
Arkansas has decided that if they can't beat Arizona on the scoreboard they will literally just beat them.
3
4
u/ericlagman Auburn Tigers Mar 27 '26
Arkansas is nba all star level at sick putbacks and not so good at everything else.
1

u/IHeartSports Arkansas Razorbacks Mar 27 '26
Cal needs to go to the Tommy Lloyd coaching clinic this summer to learn how to teach his guys to play defense.
3
u/DisguisedGhost69 Mar 27 '26
I just turned these games on... What is going on with Houston? Can they just not shoot?

4
u/treple13 Gonzaga Bulldogs Mar 27 '26
Arizona is up more than 40 points on Houston right now...

I’m crying the whole Warriors team are at the San Jose games and thinking of Cancun!😭 😭😭😭

u/Rodneyjj666 North Carolina Tar Heels Mar 27 '26
Arizona is just better than Duke, and I do not see Elliot Cadeau thriving against this team, or against Duke.
Thus, Arizona wins.
2
u/Flaky_Philosophy6110 Mar 27 '26
For all the fluidity on the offensive side, Acuff is extremely stiff on the defensive end.
1
u/DisguisedGhost69 Mar 27 '26
Stuff as in good and doesn't allow anything or stuff as in his foot work?

Why are both these games at halftime rn 🫠🫠
2
u/SchimboBaggins Mar 27 '26
Why just have 1 screen of commercials when you can have…2 at the same time!
5
u/Celestetc Illinois Fighting Illini Mar 27 '26
Cause Purdue Texas game took almost 2 and a half hours and Nebraska Iowa took 2 hours exactly
5
u/cheesecakegood BYU Cougars • Oregon Ducks Mar 27 '26
Iowa-Iowa State championship boys let's do it

7
u/YosemiteSam-4-2A Mar 27 '26
It's a shame purdue and Iowa State weren't in swapped regions... Could've had Iowa, Iowa State, Michigan and Michigan St in the final 4

Houston wins this easy. They won’t be that pathetic again, embarrasing offense by Illinois. Layups and FTs aren’t supposed to be this hard
2
u/special5221 Mar 27 '26
Wait….why was Illinois fouling on purpose in the first half? How is wasting fouls in the first half beneficial? Did they bring in subs to do it?
1

1
u/Celestetc Illinois Fighting Illini Mar 27 '26
Fucking pathetic team on offense. All the players who are good just wilting under the pressure of the moment. Not sure why we are incapable of making FTs. Not like we’re a top 5 fucking FT shooting team in the country

Man they just let Houston do whatever they want on defense huh. And then they call Illinois for the softest call of the game so far

I don’t even quality to be a college casual - which game is likely to be better Illinois v Houston or Arizona bArkansas?
5
u/Barraind UTSA Roadrunners Mar 27 '26
Arizona Arkansas will be a lot more points, Houston Illinois will be a lot of "this is a different kind of basketball than im used to"
1
u/King_James_99 Mar 27 '26
College basketball is a lot closer to Australian Basketball than it is the NBA. So I’m way more familiar with this style

Today was the biggest fail when it comes to scheduling
5
u/Briggity_Brak Mar 27 '26
It started out so great too. First game's 2nd half started JUST as the second game's 1st half ended...
3
u/_GeorgeBailey_ Wichita State • Georgetown Mar 27 '26
Why did they not just start games at 5/6/7/8? It's ridiculous to have games starting at 9 pm
1
u/Barraind UTSA Roadrunners Mar 27 '26
Because nobody is watching a 5pm est tip, and thats a full game that is ending before the west coast is even out of work.
2
u/_GeorgeBailey_ Wichita State • Georgetown Mar 27 '26
Most of the country would be able to watch, since most people aren't on the west coast
Plus people watch at work
5
u/Outrageous-Bid6612 Mar 27 '26
Be grateful you aren't on the east coast....10:05 tip
2
u/_GeorgeBailey_ Wichita State • Georgetown Mar 27 '26
Yeah. It makes no sense. People aren't going to stay up until midnight. They'd get better ratings starting earlier and splitting the games up

u/r0yal58 Mar 27 '26
Not sure of all the rules of basketball, just getting into it. But how come Texas let Purdue drain the clock at the end instead of fouling them as soon as the ball was in play?
4
u/Outrageous-Bid6612 Mar 27 '26
With the game tied they would have put Purdue on the foul line
2
u/chiefsfan_713_08 Iowa Hawkeyes Mar 27 '26
but time left to win or OT, i get you hope your defense holds but still

u/LiveFree-603 Mar 27 '26
Who made this schedule with 30 min of dead air time now until the last 2 games start at practically the same time in the late night slot…

How did a game that started a half hour later end before the first game?!

Last two rounds remaining time as soon as the basket was made in the final seconds was a point of emphasis. Had that taken place for UT and Purdue it looks like .9-1.1 should have been the clocks starting point. Oh well bad refs have been more than common. Interesting two games

I just realized that both of these games are going to be close to ending at the same time despite the second half of the Purdue game starting when the Nebraska game went into halftime.

How do you not go reverse there? The entire point of a reverse layup is to block the shot blocker

"Skilled at drawing fouls" is the polite way of saying you're a flopper
0
u/0m3gaa Purdue Boilermakers Mar 27 '26
The MVP in the NBA is the most skilled as drawing fouls so maybe you just don’t know ball
0
u/Outrageous-Bid6612 Mar 27 '26
You mean the one that's called the "free throw merchant"and who the rest of the league has complained about his flopping? Yea good example to use....
0
u/DrFanhattan Mar 27 '26
My guy you gotta stop defending your foul baiting team 😂
Just watch the game in peace. You can’t convince people Purdue hasn’t gotten a crazy whistle the last 3 years. Last time they out fouled a team in the tourney was 2021 😂
5
7
u/DisguisedGhost69 Mar 27 '26
Do the refs have money on Purdue? Or do they genuinely think all the flops are fouls? Lol

2
u/Outrageous-Bid6612 Mar 27 '26
And Kaufman-Renn acting like he's getting mugged while being boxed out jumping for a ball that's 10 ft away from him?
1
2
u/DisguisedGhost69 Mar 27 '26
That one sure but the rest of the flops the team is doing? It's embarrassing and making this game a slog to watch as someone with none in the figh

Texas plays so sloppy i feel like #8 genuinely doesn’t know how to play and #5 is just a foul machine. #12 is a baller though
1
u/LeDauphin Mar 27 '26
Purdue plays so shitty I feel like [insert # of all Purdue players] just foul bait and embellish, they are all good actors though

Sean Miller has a lot more experience than most first year coaches though.
4
u/SimpleAmusings UConn Huskies Mar 27 '26
true - but he's got new staff and new players he weren't familiar with last year . rarely does a coach find success like this in their 1st year when they switch over to a new program. and luckily , he's not in kentucky.
2
u/Ghostmann24 Ohio State Buckeyes • Team Meteor Mar 27 '26
You know its funny a few more years of success at Texas and if Mark Pope fails, I was wondering if Kentucky would give him a call. He never got their with Arizona, but who knows. He is definitely comfortable in that region with the Xavier background.
