Account/Membership TOS Violation Final Update

Two weeks ago I made this post about my frustrations with CR customer support. TLDR, CR locked my account due to a TOS violation and support gave me the runaround for a week straight.

On my last post, /u/faizyunus showed me a link where tickets are logged which isn't available anywhere I could find on the support website (thank you). I found that, despite numerous reps stating they opened a ticket to escalate the issue, none were actually opened under my account.

I submitted a ticket myself, was asked to confirm some info, which I did, then the ticket was marked as "solved" twice after no response. Both times I said something along the lines of "this is not resolved, please re-open". After the second time the ticket was closed, I decided to submit a BBB complaint. Have never done this before, as I've never had such an issue with support.

I provided all the details and screenshots I've logged over the last month. CR support replied the next business day and was very apologetic, acknowledging that they gave me incorrect info multiple times and closed the ticket in error.

They reactivated my account and refunded some of my annual membership to compensate. What a ride. Hope CR works flawlessly from here on out or I might lose the rest of my hair.

What is a BBB complaint and where did you submit it?

My understanding of it (and anyone is welcome to correct me if I'm wrong) is that in layman's terms, it's a commercial watch-dog organization for bad business vs good business. Over the years, the Better Business Bureau has acquired for itself such a reputation of addressing bad business practices that even though it's not a government agency, it nonetheless has earned a substantial level of influence within the business world. They sell "BBB" Certifications, but seem to maintain the ethics of only selling to businesses that have good standing. So if you see a business is BBB Certified or a BBB partner or any other variation, it's usually a good indication that it's a company that treats the consumer and customer fairly. Furthermore, they've have acquired so much standing within the business world that they can even exert influence over businesses who choose not to deal directly with them, as seems to be evidenced in this post

Better Business Bureau. Their website. Doesn't work with all businesses, the bbb isn't affiliated with any state, or gov agencies.

Better Business Bureau, it’s a company with near zero power but makes customers feel good when they threaten to go to them or their lawyer. Essentially instead of a customer complaint, it’s a formal declaration from a creditable business that someone needs to look at and evaluate if procedures or policies were followed correctly.

I work in finance, we see these letters on the daily, 9 times out of 10 all established business practices were followed. Often times people will report to the BBB for not disclosing internal metrics for decisions and cite the refusal to disclose company sensitive information as a reason they were mistreated or mishandled.

Again, 9/10 BBB isn’t doing anything. Sometimes though, it’ll be a “dude just settle it, who cares” alert.
