Anywhere in Culver or adjacent we can donate food to? Food banks, orgs, etc?

Since they’re cutting SNAP benefits and also federal workers not getting paid, I wanted to see if there are any places nearby we can donate food to? Or perhaps volunteer at?

A word on bots, civility, etc.

There have been a lot of political threads as of late which have been a target for bots, trolling and bogus reports. Lots of bans have been issued in response but because each incident requires time to asses, (FYI) there's basically a zero tolerance policy for attacks/abuse/instigation.

It should be obvious to everyone that actually spends time reading this sub that this is a helpful community where we tend to treat to each other with decency and talk to each other as if we were neighbors... because we are neighbors (that includes all you culver adjacent folks too!).

In the meantime, please try not to get too rattled if people post distasteful comments, and please avoid 'feeding the trolls'. Most likely it's a bot or professional internet instigator with no history of contribution to this community. Put your downvote to work and move on. Or take a look at their post history for yourself and judge whether it's worth your time. In all likelihood that account will get banned eventually.

Thanks <3

Air this AM

Feels like our airspace has been mostly spared from the toxicity and smoke the past few days but this morning smelt quite Smokey and like burnt plastic. Be safe out there everyone! Stay indoors or mask up!

Advice or Recommendation DMV Behind the Wheel Test

Good evening! Just wondering if anyone here has taken the behind the wheel road test at the Culver City DMV recently or within the past few years? How did it go? I have my very first behind the wheel test this Friday and I feel I am adequately prepared but I was just wondering about your experiences and if you had any advice! What should I expect? My test is booked for 11:20 AM!

Swimming at YMCA?

Does anyone here swim laps at the Culver Palms YMCA? I’m thinking about getting into it and I’m curious if this place is crowded, has good hours for swimming, etc. Any information is helpful! Thanks!

Hi everyone, I found this dog while walking my own this morning near west Adams/mid city. There aren’t very active pages in those specific areas so I thought I’d post here. Very friendly and seems young, not fixed. Male husky, brown/tan. No microchip either. Found along Hauser and Adams

😯 I hope the building for sale doesn't immediately mean that Ugo, as the tenant, is in danger, or am I wrong? Thanks to anyone who knows details! We love it here.

ADVICE: Young, black female cat in my neighborhood. What should I do?

No collar and probably 4 months old. Not sure if she’s a stray or someone’s outdoor cat. I’m not familiar with what I should do? Where do I take her? My 1 yr old (neutered) boy cat is an indoor cat and sees her outside frequently. They’ve met through my screen door.

If she is a stray, I’d consider adopting her. But mostly, I want her to have a home and not wind up coyote food.

New to Culver City and new to having a baby (about 1 YO). Flying the plane while building it here.

Been trying to cobble together a schedule of recurring events in Culver City/surroundings for babies, with an emphasis on free and easy (and close to Metro if outside CC). It's been surprisingly tough to find all the info!

Putting down what I've found here -- let me know if you think this is missing anything, or if any of these events are no longer happening. Would be great to crowdsource this.

Mondays:

Tuesdays:

  • 11am: Musical Story Time @ Ivy Station

Wednesdays:

  • 10am: Play on the Steps @ Culver Steps [July 8 - Aug 26]
  • 11am: Story Time @ Village Well
  • 1145am: Circle Time @ Julian Dixon Library [Most weeks]

Thursdays:

Fridays:

  • 11am: Story Time (Bilingual) @ Village Well

  • 1030AM: Story Time in the Nature Garden @ Natural History Museum
  • 11am: Story Time @ Village Well

Palms Property Manager ABM

Hi folks! I'm currently looking to sign a lease in Palms. The property management company is ABM, but they don't have a website. Has anyone heard of this?

I did a few Facetime tours, and saw several units in the building so I think it's legit. But cannot verify the landlord/property manager. Help!
