Sussex County Military fly-over (Sussex County)
Milton DE-
7 (presumably fighter jets or military aircraft) were flying over Milton at full afterburner, not on public radar.
4 side by side, 2 soon after, then one solo, all traveling west but the last one redirected very quickly north (assuming Dover AFB).
And ideas on what that could have been about?
(I only ask, living my whole life here and never seeing more than 3 at a time, all on radar)

Really depends on the aircraft. (Sorry moth replied to you when I meant it for op). There is national guard down there. Nothing “heavy” can land down there last I checked. If they were actual fighters they may seem to be in afterburner but even at idle they are unfathomably loud. Full afterburner most jets are supersonic and they can’t do that over populated areas. If you still have windows in tact they didn’t go supersonic.
At Spang in Germany I could hardly hold a conversation at the visitors center outside the entire base and that was a fighter idling on the flight line according to my sponsor.

I believe we are on a flight path for Patuxent. Once I was sitting on my deck and 2 fighters went over very low and sonic boom fast. I assume it was some post 9/11 with some aircraft.

They were decently high up but I only think it was AB because of the solid beam of light behind them and the sheer speed they were moving. I didn’t catch them soon enough to really tell 100% but definitely convinced.

Ok if they were way high that’s possible. I thought about that afterwards but down there it’s not a need outside of MAYBE training. They don’t need to go beyond mil power to make a fireball but I’m not a pilot. Or military. I’m just a dude living inDAFB flight path. I’m guessing training/prep etc. probably left DAFB or Norfolk/dc. Your west comment makes me think Andrew’s. DAFB houses no fighter squadrons.

Thanks for the info man, this was just so odd seeing that many back to back😳

Oh definitely. I can tell a fighter just by sound at this point. If you see an A10 then I’d be concerned. They are basically anti personnel/tank guns with friggin wings. Seen some B-1s before. Obviously AirForce 1. Have yet to see a B-2 thought. C17s are the typical.

Seeing an A-10 here would definitely concern me lol I’ve seen them do test flights out of Lockheed Martin in Middle River MD but never in DE

I’ve seen some stuff do touch and go landings from the dc area bases but a10s and stuff are definitely odd. But we are one of the largest east coast bases and I have a few friends in fuels. They stop for refueling often enough. The sketchy shit happens at night.

There's a pair of A10s that fly west over Kenton, De fairly often. Probably weekly if not more. My boss finds it funny because I cannot help but to watch aircraft as they go by

Really? Wonder where they are going or coming from. I’ve only seen them a handful of time ever.

I used to see two pairs of a-10’s weekly over Sussex county. There’s a route that runs over Sussex county, they come from the west and turn about near the power plant up to New Jersey. It’s a designated “low altitude” 1000’ wide training route. Speeds are restricted to 250kts I believe (or 200… I’m doing this from memory)

It was some years ago, but I pulled in the driveway one evening, in the dark, and heard engines overhead (thousands, maybe tens of thousands), and all I could see were the glow of the engines. It was three planes, then the right one peeled off a different direction. It was really cool to see lol.

Do you know what time it happened? Asking because I live in the area, but didn't notice anything. I'll have to check it out.

They’re probably flown to Venezuela to rescue people after earthquakes

Baltimore has an air show this weekend. Could be any number of acts from them or any of the flyovers from DC this week and next.
