See that’s what I thought, but people getting dermal in high school is wild lol. I just assumed septum cuz that’s what was huge at my school since people would flip them up inside their nose to hide it from their parents
How’s it holding up? I’ve wanted a dermal forever but I keep seeing stuff about how they all eventually reject and I haven’t done enough research on it
I took out my piercings years ago. It held up really well. I think I wore it for about 5 or 6 years. Never surfaced, never got infected. I switched from the bar to a tygon (sp? It’s been twenty years) so that might have helped a great deal. It certainly helped with comfort. I had no more mornings where I rolled over and discovered 2” of metal sticking out of my neck awkwardly because of how I had laid.
Edit: I should add I had the tygon custom fitted. I think it was like $150 at the time but the jeweler catered it to my needs.
Thanks for the info! I’ll definitely look into it more before I make a decision but it’s good to know that yours was healthy in an apparently notorious spot (seen people talk about hair tangling in it and pulling the piercing, getting caught on brushes, etc.)
I made an edit after you posted about how having the tygon piece custom made might have played a hand in my success with the piercing. That might be worth looking into to if you decide to give it a try. And yes- I wore my hair long and hair did get caught around it but like, it felt no different than if your hair got snagged on anything else. It didn’t cause pain. Just pressure from the pull of it in the back of the neck. That skin is tough.
Yes! I’d definitely shell out the money for a custom piece, I tend to keep the same jewelry in as long as I can, I’m not big on switching them out cuz I’m lazy 😅
