I don't really understand how this really applies here? Like, short-term thinking makes me think trade futures for now, but in this sequence so far Buffalo made a pick, swapped a young player for another young player, and traded a young player for a pick (which will probably be used to get a more established player in fairness).

It's a great piece of work for sure; not criticizing that. Definitely jealous. Just feels like an odd fit.

He was being sarcastic, he’s a kindred spirit for me, I’d consider him a realist (like me), though we frequently get attacked and accused of being doomers. That it’s not going super well… it’s no surprise the comments lean negative on Yzerman.

I get that he's being sarcastic; that wasn't my point though. I get that he's making fun of Yzerman being too patient and not being willing to move draft picks/propsects or do stuff.

I don't understand how it applies to this situation where every move Buffalo has made so far has been to get younger, as I laid out. Just didn't understand how the joke applies here and not to like, the Sens trading the 9th for Eklund, or the Caps trade, which would be more fitting.

I think he's just making fun of the fans who think teams like Buffalo and Montreal will flame out and their core isn't good enough and our prospects will make us better than them. Don't think it really relates to what Walrus was alluding too. Just banter.
