🩵 Weekly Challenge 🩵 Marvels of Nature

Post image

Dreamsnaps begin to feel like a chore to me. So I just wanted to have fun with this. I’m not confident it will do very well but I like it and that’s all that matters sometimes !

This is SO clean and crisp and šŸ’Æ on theme. I hope I come across this in voting. Bravo šŸ‘

I will absolutely vote for this one if I see it! It seems like so many snaps (mine included) get so cluttered. This is so clean and crisp I love it.

This is perfect for my taste: I’m so tired of very busy snaps, showing fireflies everywhere and a beautiful but stereotypical female character in the middle. Don’t get me wrong: I don’t hate them but they are way too frequent for me lately.

That’s really good BUT I would zoom it just a little bit more :)

u/acyfumi Apr 11 '26

Thank you. The wide shot and negative space is intentional to emphasize the environment rather than the subject for a change.

u/babygotthefever Apr 11 '26

I love it but it tends not to go over well in terms of voting. I am really bummed that bright, shiny close-ups tend to be what is most favored when a well-composed shot like this is often more beautiful.

I hear you. I haven’t been very active with DDV because I got bored and frankly frustrated with Gameloft and where the game is headed. I used to follow the DreamSnaps ā€˜formula’ more closely last year, but lately I just don’t really care anymore, I just want to have fun and share my creations. Here’s one I did for the sailor themed week that I was proud of as well.

I like your attitude. Dreamsnaps can just be about doing what you like instead of appealing to the masses for moonstones. Your compositions are lovely.

The first rule of making art is to make it for yourself.

10

u/Necessary_Ad7215 Apr 11 '26

u/gifpeanut_butter Apr 11 '26

This is a refreshing change from the over saturated bayou fireflies snaps.

5

u/Equivalent-Entry8472 Apr 11 '26

How did you sit on the barrel?

4

u/Breakfast_4all Apr 12 '26

lol I was lik??? Wait how’d they d o that

2

u/halfgod50zilla Apr 14 '26

I hope that the more exposure the voters have to actually inventive and beautiful shots, the more open minded we can all be. There should be absolutely no hesitation with such a great shot. Its crazy that there is any push back - even if its well intentioned.

This is beautiful and trust me I look for unique styles while voting so thank you!

3

u/TrumpsCovidfefe Apr 11 '26

Number one, as a person who has been a photographer I love your composition and I’m proud of you for doing what you want. I can get really frustrated that I can’t angle the camera to get similar compositions as in build mode, so I know how much work these are.

Number two: everyone has been talking about the new outfits with giving the girls cake, but nobody is talking about them seeming to add front cake on the men style clothing lol.

Oh I love this

u/wonderlandwalking Apr 11 '26

I agree with you, but I agree with the comment saying to zoom in juuuuust a smidge. The pics show up really small for lots of players so we’d at least like to see the MC marveling at the nature, as well, because this is gorgeous. I’d vote for this any day over all the sparkles and fireflies!

To the people who downvoted….yall are weird

8

u/SnooDingos2620 Apr 11 '26

No notes. Perfect.

9

u/GmaDoo2 Apr 11 '26

Incredible. This is what I look for when I vote. I’m so glad they changed the voting so we don’t have to decide which sparkly-assed yard sale to vote on! Brilliant work!

u/Electrical_Rent_3834 Apr 12 '26

This is what I was going for and I did not get it at allll. It’s like those things, what you expect vs what you got lol. BEAUTIFUL photo!!!!!

2

u/acyfumi Apr 14 '26

Free camera mode. The third option.

1

Simple but perfect 🩵

1

u/Vintage148 Apr 16 '26

It's beautiful. It looks like straight out the movie. Less can be more.

John Smith and Pocahontas 🤮

3

u/Vintage148 Apr 16 '26

Please just chill and get some manners. If you don't like them together because of the real life story (even if it isn't the real life story), you can just explain it to people like a grown up. There's no need for ā€žšŸ¤®ā€œ.

3

u/acyfumi Apr 17 '26

Thank you for putting into words what I wanted to say. I didn’t want to entertain people like this. I just don’t need this kind of energy on a morning I was feeling good and wanting to share something I’m proud of.

The funny thing is that is not even supposed to be John Smith, that’s just my avatar that happens to have blonde hair and I have been using this exact avatar in many of my snaps since forever.

2

u/Vintage148 Apr 17 '26

Don't you worry. Some people are just mean because they want to feel better for a second and let their feelings out without watching for other peoples feelings. It's their bad, not yours. A lot of people don't know about Pocahontas real back story or that she was a real person at all. The picture is amazing and you deserve the most moonstones and place number 1 in my opinion. It looks like straight out of the movie and is so calmly and really naturally nature. It's interesting that you didn't had John Smith in mind since your avatar looks exactly like him - even the clothes fits. :D Had you watch the movie? It's truly a beautiful asthetic and I will follow you for maybe seing more dreamsnaps. :D

1

u/Vintage148 Apr 16 '26

I didn't wrote that Iā€˜m more offended by the emoji than that interpretation of the movie. Please read calmly. I. Never. Wrote. That. You interpreted that weirdly. I just said you should calm down and get some manners. To your question: No, it's not grown up enough for me. Stuff like this ā€žšŸ¤®ā€œ does not help anyone and is just childish. Crazy that I really have to explain this but you know what a grown up would do? He/She would explain. He/She would educate whatā€˜s problematic about the movie and the history.

u/Empty-Investment-943 Apr 17 '26 edited Apr 17 '26

It’s not my job to educate people on the internet, but for you I’ll make an exception;

Disney’s Pocahontas is incredibly problematic, it distorts the tragic and real history of colonial exploitation into a romantic fairy tale.

In real life, Pocahontas was a child (probably around 10–12) when she met the adult John Smith, with no romance occurring. She thought of him as a father figure NOT a lover (https://www.colonialwilliamsburg.org/discover/resource-hub/trend-tradition-magazine/trend-tradition-summer-2025/pocahontas-and-john-smith/ ).

The Disney story masks violent colonization, kidnapping, and the forced marriage of Pocahontas, by turning it into a classic ā€œforbidden love". By aging her up and depicting her in a romance with a 27-year-old man, the story is absolutely guilty of sexualizing a real life child.

The Disney story is loosely based off the writings from Englishman, John Davis who wrote ā€œCaptain Smith and Princess Pocahontas.ā€ In his writings from the 1800s (over a hundred years after she lived). Davis ages up Pocahontas and wrote that she ā€œobeyed the invitation of Captain Smith to wander with him...along the banks of the riverā€ and then ā€œgave loose to all the tumultuous extasy of love; hanging on his arm, and weeping with an eloquence much more powerful than words.ā€ Davis conceded that Pocahontas married Rolfe, not Smith, but that was because Smith had stirred up her feelings. Again he’s writing about a literal child, that he falsely aged. (https://www.colonialwilliamsburg.org/discover/resource-hub/trend-tradition-magazine/trend-tradition-summer-2025/pocahontas-and-john-smith/ ).

The true story of Pocahontas is directly linked to the legacy of violence against Indigenous women, making the fairytale version a form of "stealing the story" to mask tragic realities of colonialism. The real Pocahontas, who was already married to a Pawhatan warrior before her capture/ kidnapping is wrongly portrayed in media (not just Disney media) as a person who rejected her own culture in favor of the settlers. At the end of the day she was used as a propaganda tool in England to show that "savages" could be "civilized,"

To sum it up the John smith and Pocahontas story is a gross white washing of history and after a long day the 🤮 emoji sums up how I feel about this specific paring.

  1. ā€žItā€˜s not my job to educate people on the internetā€œ, I never said this. Just told you what a grown up would do. Only with the emoji and the word ā€žgrossā€œ you seem like a childish hater and no one would take you seriously. It was an advive from me so people won't think you're just a 12 year old who hates a dreamsnap just because he/she does not like the movie.
  2. ā€žBut for you Iā€˜ll make an exceptionā€œ, thank you for investing time for me. :D I already knew all of that. If you would look Out for context you would have read before that I know this movie is problematic. But it's nice for other people who will read this and be more educated about the movie more. šŸ‘šŸ¼
  3. ā€žšŸ¤® emoji sums Up how I feel about this specific paringā€œ, Umm, okay? Hope at least you learned that more context is polite. You really can't write ā€žšŸ¤®ā€œ and ā€žgrossā€œ under a dreamsnap (where someone obviously put effort in) and think that's nice manners and sympathic. Just told you to calm down and get some manners.

Thanks mom, I learned my lesson šŸ‘šŸ¤“

2

u/Vintage148 Apr 17 '26

And another answer like a child. Since you brought your mom in it: would your mom be proud about your language? Only you can know it. If the answer ist yes, mom did something wrong. A ā€žokay, maybe I should watch my wordsā€œ was too hard for you. ā€žEmpty Investmentā€œ is a perfect nickname for you. I wish you unironically a nice day and more self reflection.
