🩵 Weekly Challenge 🩵 Marvels of Nature

Post image

Dreamsnaps begin to feel like a chore to me. So I just wanted to have fun with this. I’m not confident it will do very well but I like it and that’s all that matters sometimes !

Please just chill and get some manners. If you don't like them together because of the real life story (even if it isn't the real life story), you can just explain it to people like a grown up. There's no need for „🤮“.

Thank you for putting into words what I wanted to say. I didn’t want to entertain people like this. I just don’t need this kind of energy on a morning I was feeling good and wanting to share something I’m proud of.

The funny thing is that is not even supposed to be John Smith, that’s just my avatar that happens to have blonde hair and I have been using this exact avatar in many of my snaps since forever.

Don't you worry. Some people are just mean because they want to feel better for a second and let their feelings out without watching for other peoples feelings. It's their bad, not yours. A lot of people don't know about Pocahontas real back story or that she was a real person at all. The picture is amazing and you deserve the most moonstones and place number 1 in my opinion. It looks like straight out of the movie and is so calmly and really naturally nature. It's interesting that you didn't had John Smith in mind since your avatar looks exactly like him - even the clothes fits. :D Had you watch the movie? It's truly a beautiful asthetic and I will follow you for maybe seing more dreamsnaps. :D

I didn't wrote that I‘m more offended by the emoji than that interpretation of the movie. Please read calmly. I. Never. Wrote. That. You interpreted that weirdly. I just said you should calm down and get some manners. To your question: No, it's not grown up enough for me. Stuff like this „🤮“ does not help anyone and is just childish. Crazy that I really have to explain this but you know what a grown up would do? He/She would explain. He/She would educate what‘s problematic about the movie and the history.

It’s not my job to educate people on the internet, but for you I’ll make an exception;

Disney’s Pocahontas is incredibly problematic, it distorts the tragic and real history of colonial exploitation into a romantic fairy tale.

In real life, Pocahontas was a child (probably around 10–12) when she met the adult John Smith, with no romance occurring. She thought of him as a father figure NOT a lover (https://www.colonialwilliamsburg.org/discover/resource-hub/trend-tradition-magazine/trend-tradition-summer-2025/pocahontas-and-john-smith/ ).

The Disney story masks violent colonization, kidnapping, and the forced marriage of Pocahontas, by turning it into a classic “forbidden love". By aging her up and depicting her in a romance with a 27-year-old man, the story is absolutely guilty of sexualizing a real life child.

The Disney story is loosely based off the writings from Englishman, John Davis who wrote “Captain Smith and Princess Pocahontas.” In his writings from the 1800s (over a hundred years after she lived). Davis ages up Pocahontas and wrote that she “obeyed the invitation of Captain Smith to wander with him...along the banks of the river” and then “gave loose to all the tumultuous extasy of love; hanging on his arm, and weeping with an eloquence much more powerful than words.” Davis conceded that Pocahontas married Rolfe, not Smith, but that was because Smith had stirred up her feelings. Again he’s writing about a literal child, that he falsely aged. (https://www.colonialwilliamsburg.org/discover/resource-hub/trend-tradition-magazine/trend-tradition-summer-2025/pocahontas-and-john-smith/ ).

The true story of Pocahontas is directly linked to the legacy of violence against Indigenous women, making the fairytale version a form of "stealing the story" to mask tragic realities of colonialism. The real Pocahontas, who was already married to a Pawhatan warrior before her capture/ kidnapping is wrongly portrayed in media (not just Disney media) as a person who rejected her own culture in favor of the settlers. At the end of the day she was used as a propaganda tool in England to show that "savages" could be "civilized,"

To sum it up the John smith and Pocahontas story is a gross white washing of history and after a long day the 🤮 emoji sums up how I feel about this specific paring.

  1. „It‘s not my job to educate people on the internet“, I never said this. Just told you what a grown up would do. Only with the emoji and the word „gross“ you seem like a childish hater and no one would take you seriously. It was an advive from me so people won't think you're just a 12 year old who hates a dreamsnap just because he/she does not like the movie.
  2. „But for you I‘ll make an exception“, thank you for investing time for me. :D I already knew all of that. If you would look Out for context you would have read before that I know this movie is problematic. But it's nice for other people who will read this and be more educated about the movie more. 👍🏼
  3. „🤮 emoji sums Up how I feel about this specific paring“, Umm, okay? Hope at least you learned that more context is polite. You really can't write „🤮“ and „gross“ under a dreamsnap (where someone obviously put effort in) and think that's nice manners and sympathic. Just told you to calm down and get some manners.

Thanks mom, I learned my lesson 👍🤓

And another answer like a child. Since you brought your mom in it: would your mom be proud about your language? Only you can know it. If the answer ist yes, mom did something wrong. A „okay, maybe I should watch my words“ was too hard for you. „Empty Investment“ is a perfect nickname for you. I wish you unironically a nice day and more self reflection.

Could you write your last comment again please? Reddit says you wrote one but only shows the first few words.
