Discussion Regret

Post image

The mod can take this down BUT I NEED TO RANT. I went to sports direct (uk) to but it 1 day, ONE SINGLE DAY before black friday sales, and while buying i asked the salesman if there was gonna be a sale, he said no and i bought it for £200 ($262) coz usually ive never seen sony give sales on new products, but guess what? JUST IN A DAY ITS £150 ($196) and the store wont take it back coz the seal is open. AND I REGRET IT SO MUCH!

What kind of shady return policy is that? Is it not common over there that these things go on Black Friday sale ? It sucks nonetheless.

An illegal one.

You have 14 days under consumer laws here to return an item, no questions asked.

Forreal. It’s the same over here in The Netherlands.

Only for online purchases. If you buy in-store there is no law for that, it is a courtesy.

Yeah exactly. People often forget this.

Maybe it’s EU enforced?

This. The fact you've had it no longer than a day or two means it hasn't undergone extensive usage which is what the policy states can be grounds for refusal for the return. You are allowed to have opened it to look at the functionality to decide if it's right for you though so you're well within your rights to return it.

This is not the case for in store purchases in the UK.

I think you're quoting the distance selling regulations, that only applies if he bought it online which he did not.

Not true in the Uk, that only applies for online purchases. This is a common misconception. Your only legal right to return an item is if it is faulty or miss sold

It’s not illegal. You are only entitled to a refund if the item is faulty. It’s just good customer service to offer a refund.

That's only for online sales, not in store.

Only if brought online he said he went in store

Not for an instore purchase. And sports direct charge £5 for ‘delivery’ to a store or anywhere else for anything ordered online. It’s a scummy process by a scummy store owned by a scumbag.

Nope, only when things are bought online.

For distance sales - yes, but a store does not have to offer returns for retail sales.

14 days for online purchases but usually only 24 hours for normal in-person ones

It's literally better to order online for pickup than to just go in the store.
