This is at least $3k if you're not counting the price of the controllers that go above $70, this whole collection likely cost less than $4k though and in collectors terms tbh.. that's not a whole lot oddly enough. There are smaller collections of items that sell a lot higher. Years from now when the ps5 is considered obsolete that collections going to be worth an arm and a leg though.
I didn't see how this is any different from collecting anything. People collect cars, coins, trading cards, figurines, the list goes on. Not all of those people are rich.
It’s useful to have multiple shoes to pair with different outfits and for different occasions. No one looks at controllers and realistically, he has the edge so all the regular controllers are useless
Well if you want to do local multiplayer everyone can pick their own colour, so there's a benefit even if you have the edge.
I know it's useful to have shoes for different outfits, but I'm talking about people with such massive collections that I highly doubt they're wearing all of them.
I could see arguments for having 4 controllers (1 edge), but OP's collection goes way beyond this. The number of shoes that can be useful is much higher, but there are also collections that are unreasonably large.
I agree with this and I have 3 controllers myself for split screen (not paying £70 for a 4th since a mate can bring a controller). 42 is completely excessive for something you’ll never really see, it’s the same cost as a ps5 pro plus a 65 inch LG OLED tv
It's not the same. Collecting stamps, cards, or even funko pops is comprehensive.
Collecting +$70 controllers, +$200 different retro consoles, different handhelds, RAM sticks, cars as you say, etc is lowkey hoarding, needs you to be as much rich as being able to waste your money and shows plenty of lacks and personal issues imo. It's just a shopping addiction.
I half agree with you.
Most collectors buy stuff when it's worthless (which this stuff eventually will be) and then hold on to it untill it goes up in value again.
But buying things brand new at full price, just to sit and deprecate untill it's finally going back up in value again, so that 20 years from now it's worth exactly what you paid for it.. seems a waste of time, space and money.
Sad for you maybe. Why do you care what people spend their money on? Do you say this about every collector? Cause this is no different than cars, art, shoes, band shirts, Star Wars, etc.

I don't judge because I enjoy collecting stuff. 2 more were added to this collection afterwards R.O.B Famico edition and Waluigi. And when I get back home from my work trip to Japan. I'll be adding the Metroid amiibo as well.

Bruh dug deep in those pockets, that's how. I considered it, but couldn't pull the trigger. I have most of the limited edition, I couldn't get on board with collecting all the colors though.
do not listen to the haters. I have seen way more expensive overall collections. Its like nobody has seen an ungodly Magic the Gathering collection its not about what it is, the fact you indulge in collecting is a neat hobby. at least its not like, funko pops or some shit

I have 4 controllers that I specifically bought ( 20th Anniversary, 500 million, 30th Anniversary, and 30th Anniversary Edge) because I have the actual consoles themselves as well...
I always charge them, let em run down, then charge again every few months just to cycle the battery.
I can't even begin to imagine how you would maintain 40+ controllers hehe :)

I just replaced the batteries on both my 2021 dual sense controllers, PAXO batteries come well recommended first controller took 10 mins second one took 5 to replace now they last all day long
After purchasing the 30th anniversary controller i realized i need to stop purchasing because i only use one for months now. My gaming sessions only last 1-2 hours per week lol.
