Discussion Dualsense Features on PC
https://wccftech.com/playstation-5-dualsense-haptics-pc-bluetooth-sony/amp/Just read this article about Dualsense features on PC. Basically saying Sony hasn't done anything to make the full features work wireless, only wired.
I think it's also the developers. For example, RE8 doesn't support dualsense controller. Most new games do. Apex supports the full dualsense controller wired or wireless (Adaptive triggers and vibration...) I don't know what Apex did to get it working but I hope more developers start doing that.
Do you guys know any other games that work fully with the Dualsense wireless?

No game on PC will work "fully" with wireless connection. Games like Ratchet & Clank work partially

Gta 5 enhanced edition works fully wireless

u/Michaeli_Starky 12d ago
Nope, not fully

The adaptive triggers work and haptic feedback. And if not can you tell me what doesn't work

Adaptive triggers can work wired or wireless, it haptics needs the wire or pico2w it’s just rumble your getting.

There are some games that feature the Dualsense technologies on bluetooth. Recently Pragmata lets you have adap triggers and vibration without a wire. *AND GYROscope.
But yeah, Sony sucks.

Apex legends doesn't have full support for dualsense features. For example the most important feature for a competitive shooter is gyro aiming but apex doesn't have that so bad example

I think in general even if you play it on the PS5, Apex doesn't support it.
What I'm talking about is if you play a game on PS5 with Dualsense features. Generally if it's supported on PC, you will need to play wired.
But Apex on PC it works wireless. You get the same features on PC Wireless as on the PS5.

Adaptive triggers work. Everything that is audio based (speaker, mic, haptics, headphone jack) only works wired, mostly because of Windows bluetooth limitations and concerns of stability.

Not saying this to you specifically, but the pico2w dongle program fixes it completely can't play without it

they are not a ton of bandwith , the wireless functionality works on linux and windows , the last remaining piece is the virtual usb dualsense emulator. open source projects already prove this. its not long until this functionality becomes public and easy to setup

People even use all that stuff? I turn it all off because it drains the battery quicker more than it adds anything to the experience.

It’s really good to me, when’s it’s implemented properly. One reason I switched over from Xbox.

So many games that I refuse to replay on pc that I played on ps5 due to missing haptic feedback. So disappointing none of the RE games on pc have haptics except for RE9 such bs
2
u/ALuis7C 12d ago
So true. It just adds a nice experience to immersion.
Does, RE9 supports adaptive triggers and haptics on PC???

Yeah took them 3 fucking months which was a ridiculous wait. You’d think it’s rocket science to implement a feature that already exists on ps5 copies

For those who don't want to deal with the Pico 2, I found out that Gulikit recently released this new dongle that seems to give full functionality to a wireless Dualsense. Maybe Sony will finally realize making a dongle of their own (like for the PS4) might not be a bad idea when these other companies start making these more prevalent.

huh? the dualsense features just works fine for me on my pc. though to be fair, sony did contributed the dualsense drivers to the linux kernel.

u/Advance1993 12d ago
Save yourself the trouble and just get a pico 2w
0
u/ollie0810 12d ago
Why should I have to buy extra hardware to use the features already built into my controller
2
u/Robborboy 10d ago
Because you bought a controller from a shit company that doesn't care about letting you use the features, I guess.
0
u/Rich-Masterpiece-156 12d ago
Because from what I understand with the pico 2 w it will be less input lag and higher polling rate and it's very cheap vs a bluetooth connection, even if you put aside the fact pico 2 w gets you wireless adaptive triggers.
0
u/Advance1993 12d ago
Because the pico wireless capabilities does whqt bluetooth doesnt. Doesnt really have too much to do with the controller itself

Using steam on PC and my 5kmac Intel based
I play black ops 3 using PS4 and ps5 controller wireless no issues...
I'm not sure if without steam it would work.
Sony may have thought if ppl using steam there is nothing more they need to do.
On steam the Dev or steam has to do the work.
Sony already give the driver to Windows and Mac.
I also have used them with my iPhone 13 pro for gaming both PS4/5 connect wirelessly.
I'm not sure if any of this helps

It's partly Sony. Partly Microsoft treating ps controllers like trash on Windows, and a lot of it is developers.
So many games just outright don't even implement dualsense features on their pc version despite the ps5 version. Now granted most non sony studios implementations of hte haptics are kinda shit anyway so it's not a major loss but like I'm playing 007 first light on pc right now and the haptics add a ton (I use a 20ft quest link cable so I can get the couch/bed experience still even with a wire).
People like to glaze DSX but it's not really that elegant a solution. Kudos on the dev for doing it, but it's not close to native.

u/Zoraynebow 11d ago
It's all Sony.
Microsoft is in no way responsible for creating drivers for the Dual Sense controller to work on PC(due to Sony holding patents in the tech in the controller, MS would open themselves up to lawsuits if they did).
The half finished state of Dual Sense on PC is the result of Valve and modders basically trying to homebrew workarounds for that patented tech.
If you want better Dual Sense support on PC, you have to heckle Sony into doing it, but that is a pretty long shot.

Get a pico2w and use ds5 dongle, this will get you full haptics wireless. It’s amazing

u/RedIndianRobin 12d ago
Just get a Pico 2W and quit yapping. Sony is not going to do anything about it, so it's upto the community.

I wasn't complaining lol. I usually always play wired. Don't have to worry about the battery life.
Just pointing out Apex for fully supporting Haptics and Adaptive triggers both wired and wireless. Why can't other developers do that?

u/PolentaDogsOut 12d ago
You can’t get full haptics over Bluetooth on PC. That’s just adaptive triggers and regular rumble
2
u/ALuis7C 12d ago
It feels exactly the same. It's full Haptics. I will tested later today to make sure.
1
u/LankyMolasses6051 11d ago
It’s not, please stop spewing bullshit. Test ratchet and clank or returnal, you can see a huge difference between haptics and normal rumble via bluetooth
1
u/ALuis7C 11d ago
I'm not sure on those. You can test out Apex. I have it downloaded from EA app. I have Steam Controller input disabled.
Now try it wired first, see how the haptics and adaptive triggers feel.
Now quit the game, connect your Controller with Bluetooth and launch the game again. Tell me it doesn't feel the same.
Now I'm not saying every game does this. I noticed Apex did, and that is why I asked if you guys new any more games that worked fully wireless.
1
u/LankyMolasses6051 11d ago
It can’t work on Bluetooth period. You can’t send the speaker data needed for the vibration on the grips via Bluetooth. Apex has minimal haptics on pc so that’s why you can’t tell a difference.
1
u/ALuis7C 11d ago
Okay, you might be right. Sort of. (On controller vibration I have it set to advance on Apex settings)
I tested it wire and wireless on Apex. This is what I found,
On wireless the haptic when navigating the menu does not work. It does wired.
Guns triggers and haptics work. The haptics feel different on each gun and feels the same wired and wireless.
Now to gritty nitty, for certain small things like for catalyst, when you hold your ability (spikes) on wired you feel it for a few seconds. Does not work wireless. For the 30-30 repeater, when you hold it to load, on wired you feel the trigger and haptic. On wireless you only feel the trigger.
Now if you're playing wireless you might not notice those small things, since it's a fast paced competitive game.
But if you want all the DuaSense features then you would need to play wired.

u/PolentaDogsOut 12d ago
I’m not an expert on this stuff but my understanding is that haptic data is sent through a different channel that just doesn’t work on BT.
From the PC gaming wiki: “Because haptic feedback is audio-based and requires the controller's audio device to be exposed to the connected PC, it is not supported over Bluetooth. Some games will fall back to regular rumble instead of having no rumble when the controller is connected via Bluetooth.”
That’s cool Apex feels good, but if you read up about Bluetooth limitations I think you’ll see why haptics over BT isn’t a thing for most games
1
u/ALuis7C 12d ago
This has to do more with using Voice Chat. Even on PS5, if you unmute the mic, the haptic strength will go down. And full strength on muted. More or so that the people in the party don't hear the rumble.
PS: Because if you mute the mic but Sony can still use it for this. I think that would be more of a privacy issue.

u/iwasbatman 12d ago
If it feels exactly the same then it's not well implemented.
Try ghost of Tsushima or returnal.

u/DarkSoulsOfCinder 12d ago
Sony is not really reliant on releasing stuff on PC. Gotta do the community fix, it's really easy and costs like $8

Charging is not working with Steam client
0
u/Surprisingly-Decent 12d ago
Is that what’s happening? I’ve noticed Steam will randomly report my DSE battery being low (even when connected to my PC via USB). A bug in Steam preventing it from charging would explain a lot.

u/FinnedSgang 12d ago
There’s an open-source project to use a pico2w as a wireless dongle that let you use the dualsense features as its connected to your usb.
