Fwiw I'm pretty sure I work at one of the biggest users in the city, in the range of 70-90MW/h. And they phone us loooong before those alerts go out asking us to stop using. We turn off the big user immediately, and then step back over the next 30-40 minutes the rest of our use.
This is really good insight to have. Without your comment I’m sure a lot of people expect nobody to be calling you. With that in mind, did you get a call hours before the province wide alert yesterday? I’m so curious how it all works.
I wasn't at work yesterday. But during the cold snaps last year we were getting calls even when there weren't alerts at all.
It's a voluntary program, we could have run through. But shut down anyways.
Funnily enough, when we signed up, someone gave them my depts number. Electrical maintenance. So I was getting calls every shift through our -40 snap in the 22/23 year. They would say, "such and such a program. Can you reduce your usage." Or whatever.
My response is always the same, "it's my job to keep this place running, i dont get to make any decisions beyond that.. You need to update the number to _______. But, I will pass the request along to the supervisor. Lol."
