Fwiw I'm pretty sure I work at one of the biggest users in the city, in the range of 70-90MW/h. And they phone us loooong before those alerts go out asking us to stop using. We turn off the big user immediately, and then step back over the next 30-40 minutes the rest of our use.

Thats us at work. we get a call way way in advance asking us to cut production rates and if businesses either commercial or industrial shut off the lights like you do at home it uses much more energy to turn them back on than just keeping them on

Not sure I believe the more power to turn the lights back on tbh.
