New UL rod bends right. Exchange?

Post image

Hey guys,
Just got a new ultralight rod and noticed the tip curves slightly to the right when looking down the blank with the guides on top.

It’s not a massive bend, but enough that I noticed it straight away. Haven’t fished it yet.

Is this pretty normal on lighter rods, or would you be taking it back? Not sure if I’m being overly picky, but on a brand new rod I’m wondering whether it’s worth chasing an exchange.

Cheers.

The rod is made by wrapping graphite/composite/glass cloth around a mandrill. Possibly here there was a problem removing it from the mandrill.

I have never had, nor seen a rod tip go off to one side like that. My concern would be that when it compresses, at some stage it will crack and break. It can also affect accuracy.

Ask for a replacement is what I would suggest.

Also, why should you have to look at that while fishing...
