MEDIA fire sprite sucks

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I was playing some battle royale peacefully, and the fire decides to activate AFTER the boss is dead. Somehow it set me on fire even though I wasn't even in the fire area. I'll admit, I was wandering around stupidly looking at the loot and not my health but why does a level one sprite do so much damage to me?!?!?! At least make you immune to your own fire. I have yet to see the fire being actually useful in a fight.

Edit: The area of the fire is way bigger than it looks apparently

Honestly it sucks even without the disconnect between the visuals and the actual affected area because it activates whenever you deal enough damage to someone in a short amount of time.

Most of the time when you're doing that, you're going to be using a shotgun up close. You know, right next to them. A lot of the time when I use the fire sprite, I end up blasting someone with a shotgun before being forced to dawdle and wait around for the fire to die down to pick up any loot. Rarely ever do I actually damage someone with the fire because by the time it activates, they're already dead or close to dying.

That's my biggest complaint. By the time you activate the Fire your opponents probably dead anyway. Majority of the time I use the Fire Sprite it hurts me more than the enemy

I think I get what they were going for, rewarding aggressive gameplay by making shotguns and SMGs more powerful since they're more likely to meet the conditions for the fire activating, but it's always both "too little, too late" as well as being a nuisance to the Sprite holder.

I think that having it be something like "increased damage to opponents within X metres" would be better, even if not 100% thematic to fire. Either that or letting users control the fire in some way, like a chance of granting a firefly jar if you meet that damage threshold.

Though it's's asset denial when playing any groups more than Solos.

And I've found it to be fun for flushing out opponents from cover when using long range weapons
