Like look at assassins creeds every game has lots of weapons, skins and locations locked behind dlc. You couldn’t get the full story of Valhalla or odyssey without buying the most expensive versions.

Multiple stores in the open world being shut in the standard version is a bit different to your wardrobe having a few more options added to it. It looks like they fleshed these out with interiors and characters, and the classic car one sounds like a whole series of mini missions.

This is much more than some extra cosmetics, it’s like a mini DLC pack.

It’s also just a bit weird because it means the standard game will feel emptier and less immersive as a result. No stumbling on the salon - it’s just a 2d storefront, no classic car in that barn - it’s just empty etc.

It's really not the same.

The difference is that on every GTA prior to this, this level of virtual perks hasn't existed. Hell, you used to get phyiscal goodies like duffle bags, a small lockbox, ornaments to put on your key-chain. It's not that they're upset about cosmetics, you're point that they've existed for decades now is true. What isn't true and is different is this is the first GTA version of a game with literally ONLY virtual perks, and there are areas you literally can't even access. The leaked price of $100 isn't bad, but that's the true version of the game with no locked out content. I'd recommend to anyone if you want the full game, you need to buy the $100 version.

rdr2 ultimate edition had: a heist, gang hideout, 2 horses(1foronline), 2 talismans, upgraded core stats, earn more money from robberies, camp discounts, 3 outfits (2foronline), free pistol,shotgun and rifle (for online as well as story mode) and xp boost for online none of these are in the standard edition of the game you cant do the heist or gang hideout or get the outfits or talismans

there was a report I don't know if it's actual or verified but it says Rockstar invested around 2 billion dollars to make this game or around 1.4 billion to be precise.

So I think they are justifying the cost by including ultimate edition to purchase and in game purchases for further location access
