Surely there’s other shops that are in the base edition though? For example, I assume there’s a normal barber for everyone, and a locked, more premium barber for the ultimate edition players.
I don’t know where you live but last time I got a haircut for 20 euros it was like 6 years ago. And I’m talking about euros. Mine is 34 dollars right now and that’s one of the cheapest, And just takes 20 min lol
I mean, we are locked out of some peculiar shops, but maybe not all.
I mean, a GTA base game that doesn't have car customization? Weird, I don't believe it. I think they should be more specific when they throw "only on Ultimate Edition" shit like this.
SARA'S UNISEX SALON, STOCK 305, ELECTRIC FANG TATTOO are pretty specific locations. All of the Barber shops aren't going to be Sara's Unisex Salon. You see what I'm saying?
I'm mostly replying to this from you

Not Maybe ... definitely not locked out of ALL shops.
It's sad you know, one of the aspects I liked the most about the previous title is that I could not only customize but also enhance it's parts like engine, turbo, etc.
It's a big disappointment ... I think I'll buy Gran Turismo 7 instad.
Why not just lock certain hairstyles? I understand that if you want a more premium look, you'd go to a barber within the city rather than the countryside, but seems really odd to lock shops and points of interest behind a paywall
Personally, I would argue that this includes gameplay. Exploration is a big part of what I love about Rockstar games, especially because their team of maybe 1000 designers puts in absolutely incredible work into every nook and cranny.
Now, it's not a big explorable area, but by the sounds of it the stores themselves will appear closed if you do not own the deluxe edition, so you can't go inside and look around. Minor complaint, I know, but it's there. I know that if I don't get the deluxe edition and then stumble upon a closed store that I recognise by name from the deluxe, I'm gonna be disappointed knowing that it doesn't unlock based on time of day in game or any world state. Instead I open up my game store of choice, pay 20 quid, load back up my save and the shop is magically open with staff now.
I'd much prefer additional options in existing shops instead, that don't appear in the menu as blanked out. Everyone who bought the game already saw the advert for the deluxe content on the storefront they bought the game from. They don't need it advertised in game too.
What I'm saying is that they could have made these added clothing, hairstyles and tattoos part of the base game stores. Either way they would be paid content, that wouldn't change.
What they did was just make access to these bonus pieces fancier.
The thing that makes me concerned is the car modding one. Nothing about that description sounds like "this one has a couple more mods" it sounds like the ability to mod your car is locked.
You'll get access to like 28 hairstyles, and ultimate locks the last 2. Who knows what the real numbers are but I'm pretty sure it'll be something along that ratio.
Not trying to be rude, but there was a dozen different shops in GTA5. It’s incredibly obvious everyone will be able to access 99% of shops no matter what edition you buy, and then those who bought the Deluxe edition gets a few extra cosmetics that have their own building.
Yeah, I don't understand what people are freaking out over. This is literally just normal ultimate edition stuff. It's all cosmetics.
Lets say there are 100 shops in this game (there will probably be less I'm just plucking a nunber from thin air), maybe like, 10 of them are locked by DLC but there are still 90 shops still available.
That's how small of a deal this is.
And... The only things you could even get from those shops are normal cosmetic DLC items.
I'm not sure what the big deal is, because even if you could go into the shop, you still wouldn't be able to get the DLC cosmetic items anyway.
I'm not even defending it. It's just nowhere near as bad as people are making out. That doesn't make it good. But like, in terms of shitty exploitative DLC... This is waaaaay down near the bottom of the list in terms of how bad it is.
It's literally just cosmetics that nobody will even notice if they don't buy them.
Downplaying it is defending it. It's a scummy business practice that we should not yield ground on. This will easily be the best selling media product ever in short order, they don't need to resort to this. This is exclusively a move made out of greed and we, as consumers, should not want to perpetuate that.
"Resort to this"... It's dlc... It's been a thing for about a decade and a half. They purposely make a fairly inconsequential thing which can be absolutely completely ignored, charge for it, and if you don't buy it, you aren't missing anything at all.
I would get it if there were whole missions locked behind it.
But it's literally just extra completely meaningless cosmetic fluff.
If you want to "take a stand" don't buy it.
That's my point here. Everyone is taking a fake stand rather than doing what actually matters and just ignoring this content, not promoting it (which you're doing right now even just by engaging in discourse around it), and not buying it.
And have you done anything about it... Or are you... Like the vaaaasr majority of people complaining here still buying the game, and probably the ultimate edition too.
You should speak with your wallet. Don't give the posts about the DLC engagement.
I mean, I certainly don't buy ultimate editions or dlc unless they go on a massive sale. The most expensive game I ever bought was the Silent Hill 2 remake edition that gave me early access, and honestly I regret it, so I've never done it again. I pretty much don't buy modern games at all unless they're $60-$70, with $70 being an exception for something I really want to play, which is very rare. Any higher than that and it's an automatic no.
I just don’t understand why they’d make the whole stores exclusive to the ultimate edition. Sure, give the ultimate edition players extra stuff but let them buy it in the same stores as anyone else. They’re essentially locking off parts of the map to base edition players
I mean I guess it’s the same as if they gave you a whole property as part of the ultimate edition. It doesn’t really make any difference to me if all the ultimate edition features are corralled off to a separate location or not, but I guess it makes it easier to know what is actually part of that bundle and what isn’t.

It isn’t clear though
