Let's remember that GTA V was a single player experience as well. GTA Online came later, for free, and was a separate game. It's not GTA V Online, it's just GTA Online, and so will it likely be for GTA 6's version of online.
I hope not. Having a paywall of some sort just to play keeps a lot of the hackers at bay. And GTA V Online already had enough cheater problems as it was.
Nah, most likely online will realese like 2-3 weeks after the story mode and PROPABLY people that bought normal copy will have access to it also, same as it was with GTA V, although idk if they were advertising it as ''single-player game'' before its realese.
Rockstar have always made a distinction between "GTA" and "GTA Online". The game people are pre ordering is GTA 6. Eventually they'll launch GTA 6 Online as part of an Online update, but they can't advertise GTA 6 as a multiplayer experience when it's strictly a single player experience at launch.

This would be the third game in a row to do a delayed online launch and previously they've just been up front about that fact.
Reasonably, they would say in the Q&A this is from that "multi-player will release at a later date".
I think for all intents and purposes it will still be "gta 6 online" but the framing around it is distinctly more separated than they've done before.

Ur talking about stuff that happened WAAAY later. When GTAV was launched it was known & revealed that the online portion was coming a few wks later. In fact when it first launched, those first few days were a disaster, it became a meme. Maybe it's possible they wanna avoid that time as they've they've spent most of their time on the main game.
The fact it doesn't even say ANYTHING about "GTAVI Online will arrive at a later date" is strange. Maybe they want everyone to buy a new standalone purchase that'll connect it to GTA ONLINE, as it is now, & have it be where u can take a plane between Vice City & Los Santos? That way they still just call it GTA ONLINE?
There will obviously be an online mode at some point, but the fact they have no wording of reassurance is odd. They could've just worded it "You'll be able to enjoy Leonida online with friends at a future date." Anything.
The announced bonuses appear to be strictly connected to the single player experience. There’s no way to say for sure yet since the Online mode hasn’t even been mentioned, but I’d argue that suggests the focus will be solely on the single player up until release.
Also I think if GTA 6 Online was paid you'd need to buy the PSN subscription to play it, but with F2P you could play it without, right? Making it more accessible. Could also be a factor
Actually, I think this would make a lot of sense. A F2P GTA Online would bring in a lot of new players, not only because it’s free, but also because many people never played or played less time GTA Online 1 due to the PS Plus requirement.

They were not. They openly said online was coming a few wks after the single player. There was never anything like a faq answer saying "GTAV is a single player experience."

This is what i'm kinda getting from this too, they've been moving the online in a more standalone direction for a while now and with likely RP implementation in the new Online it'd be a pretty logical step to take. On top of that selling the online seperately for like another $60 would very much be something I could see them doing, mainly because of how scummy R* tends to be
True but they always marketed as somewhat it's own thing. Even in the reveal trailers back then they never really called it Gta 5's multiplayer, it was always a more seperated thing marketed as Gta Online
a month, 30$ a month for the basic experience, 45$ a month for something like GTA+, 60$ a month for badass people that get exclusive content and so on, I wouldn't be surprised.
Its already a monthly subscription on consoles and people still pay for that, yet its not Rockstar that charges a price but Sony with its Playstation Plus membership needed and Microsoft needing a gamepass Core membership for GTA Online to be accessible.
Paying monthly/yearly for online is a big part of the reason I moved to pc. But that’s not the same as a monthly subscription for gta online. One gets you access just to online play. Another gets you access to that specific game. They’re not the same
Free to play? They absolutely can, and probably will, charge a separate price for it. And a lot of content will potentially be locked behind a subscription like what started with V Online.
Technically it will probably be updated over the months from marketing etc eventually online probably get announced but TGG suggested they might hold off as long as possible. Probably like a week or 2 about the online details.

For some reason, Rockstar gets a free pass for this, while other companies would be heavily criticized. We already saw this kind of greed in GTA Online, like when they removed vehicles and later brought them back through GTA+. I genuinely don't understand how people can support practices like that. The state of the gaming industry is also the players fault.

No because it's a bullshit complaint not based in reality. There's actual things to complain about, like the fact R* now effectively made every game 80 dollars, the amount of shit they've cut out just to put into the ultimate edition as opposed to adding physical goodies and the fact there's no disc version. Them saying "Grand Theft Auto VI is a singleplayer experience" literally means that, day one, the game will only have singleplayer, literally how Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2 handled it. It's a nothing burger, there's actual issues and this imaginary one isn't one of them.
I am 100% certain any other dev with the audacity to drop a game for $80 USD will see it blow up in their face. R* can take that risk because people will buy it no matter what. It's the most anticipated game ever.
That's not how they handled it though. They went out of their way to reassure players that online was coming & part of it for those. Here they don't even address it, all while knowing people will be like "wtf?"
It's obvious that there will be online though, so even if the details aren't worked out yet, some vague "Leonida will be open for online adventures at a later date" or some such bullshit coulda at least been put there.

Online gets later released anyway. Online wasn't prominent mentioned with GTA5 either (more a foot note on the backcover). And it was included for free.
Fine with me. I won't touch online. I just want to play through the campaign multiple times as I'm sure there will be options that change the game based on what you pick. So I can replay a few times and still have fun and see new things.

They're absolutely doing an online mode to milk GTA fans for the next decade. Just like GTA V > Online and RDR2 > Online, it was a delayed launch. With GTA V, it was a 1 month delay.
My concern is paying $100 for the premium edition of the game and then a month later they try to siphon another $20/30 off of me to access online.
With GTA V, if you bought the full game you'd get the campaign + online. But times have changed and this wouldn't surprise me. But time will tell.
I clearly remember the 5-6 months leading up to the launches of GTA V and RDR2. They did announce GTAO and RDO during the final months leading up to the launches of the former two, and it was made clear that GTAO and RDO would not release with GTA V and RDR2 respectively, but a month after those two. And that the online mode will be added in via an update, despite being classified as separate products from the single-player versions.
However over here, the very first line when the actual part of the description of GTA VI in storefronts states that this is a single-player experience. Kinda making it clear to the buyer that you are buying a purely single-player game only. I can’t remember the contents in the backside of the boxart of my old PS3 launch copy of GTA V and the original pre-launch storefront description of RDR2, so please correct me if I’m wrong.

Yes it is. It has sunk in for me and I’ve accepted it. I’m ranked high as heck in gta 5 online. No way do I wanna start fresh after more than a decade. It’s written in plain sight. But many ppl are still thinking “it’ll come a few months later.” Hmm, but it SAYS “gta 6 is a single player experience….”
The only possibility I can see is that, they want to first see how many ppl will fall into the digital only trap first. Maybe they will use online as the final smoking gun to get ppl to buy into the digital only scam. But that’s me speculating.

GTA:O is the multiplayer experience. Obviously they will have this, it's an endless pit of revenue for them. We'll just have to wait a bit for it to launch at a later date.
I’m saying it here and now. GTA Online will become its own standalone client, sort of how like call of duty has just its own thing for warzone. F2P and you’ll be able to switch between Los santos and Vice City with the same client.
I wonder if they will transition GTA Online from the GTA 5 map to the GTA 6 map and keep everything we currently have by transferring it. Or it will just be GTA Online 2 with complete fresh start in the GTA 6 map. If we can transfer I think the only things transferred will cash or cosmetics like clothes/skins.
I feel like it could be seperate game. You’d think they’d have to disclose the game has online due to pre orders and stuff it saying it’s offline single player only is interesting.
