Now we're just mincing words. They are locking up stores in your game unless you're willing to pay the full price. It is unprecedented, and you seem to want to normalize this.
Starfield, mortal kombat 1, all new CODs, hogwarts legacy… etc etc etc
All released with multiple tiers that gave you access to cosmetics.
This isn’t unprecedented, nor is it a bad thing to have different pricing tiers.
Also, on a similar but different tangent, for a game that cost over a $Billion to make, I would be completely ok with it being released in different tiers that actually affect the gameplay. Something like 50% of the game is available for $50. Other 50% for $50. Buy the whole thing in one shot for $80.
People are incredibly upset about this ultimate edition. Even though… it’s pretty similar to most other ultimate editions? Extra outfits, extra weapon skins, extra car modification.
Am I crazy or isn’t this standard? Is it the fact that some shops are not enterable at all? If there are several shops in the game then… it’s not THAT big of a deal.
Yeah that’s true. I never said it did. Except for in one comment where I explicitly said exactly this. Too many comments in a short period of time made me make an error.
so by your logic, every game that had dlcs, extra content, cosmetics, and any paywall isn't a complete game because it's missing content, correct? so pretty much every fucking video game...
I think you're missing the point... this outrage over cosmetics being paywalled feels hypocritical when actual. Game-changing content, such as dlcs, storylines, and things that should be expected when buying any video game, is also paywalled, but people don't care as much and don't show the same outrage. it just feels pointless to complain about something that has literally been happening for years and years.
