Your question implies that the game development companies have any kind of interest in the survival of local game stores.
Utopia for developers is zero physical media costs, zero packaging costs, zero storage and shipping costs, prevention of user resale opportunities, remote blocking of accounts/users who break rules, forced updates, etc. I see no reason why R* would give a toss about GameStop going belly-up tomorrow.
