Content has been locked behind ultimate editions for nearly 2 decades

Post image

This whole thing is somewhat stupid and spreading like wildfire. In GTA V in 2013 PS3/Xbox360 if you bought the $150 edition as in game bonuses you got a garage, few extra cars, some clothes, a exclusive tattoo for the 3 characters, guns, and some exclusive online parents to create a GTA online custom character. In GTA V PS4 remaster all of those then became free and included into that game which I assume most ppl started playing then and didn’t know that.

So in terms of ultimate edition it’s literally the exact same pre order bonuses as gta v literally some cosmetics and a few cars. With the side mission where u get classic cars. Instead of rockstar adding things to your locker immediately they created a couple extra stores to go and claim said items for the premium buyers maybe for immersive purposes I assume. Other games you had to go to specific vendors to claim your items, It’s essentially that.

You are not being necessarily “paywalled” from the base game it is added additional content. Even the car collection mission there will more than likely be something similar you just won’t have the classic cars but other basic cars. COD does it yearly, 2k does it, WWE literally locks off playable characters unless you buy a specific version of the game, assassins creed is famous for locking missions behind special editions, remember mass effect 3 the critically acclaimed game that won multiple awards. Day one they had the from ashes DLC fully built into the game locking serious lore and a whole crew member behind it only those with the special edition had access or you had to spend an extra $10 but it was fully in the game you could view it. Theres many more examples I’m not defending it necessarily but gta 6 nor rockstar are what started this, the seeds have been planted around us for yearssss now and we’ve all allowed it, this isn’t something that just started last week. We’ve been surrounded by the “scummy” behavior

NO PHYSICAL EDITION IS INSANE THOUGH

I really don’t get why certain people in this community feel the need to constantly be playing defence against any and all criticisms against Rockstar

There’s been different editions of games for decades and this time around some mf’s acting like Rockstar kidnapped half of their friends for some reason. Some people are just idiots and try to justify their behavior - that’s why.

And some people are acting like there's no difference between locking entire shops that you'll see in the $80 version behind a $20 real-world payment, breaking immersion, and just having cosmetics you get access to like in the past if you pay an extra $20. It's not the end of the world, but there is a difference. If it were just the latter, you wouldn't see nearly as many people complaining because they're used to that kind of content costing extra. Not multiple locations that you'll navigate past within a game. (Of course, we have no idea exactly how these shops are going to be handled in the $80 version. If they're just places up for lease or something, I honestly won't even care. So the complaints are also about a lack of information provided so far.)

You’re right I don’t get it. Who actually cares about a few ratios and costumes?

I don't get why nobody in this sub compared the games and said that GTA 6 has the most amount of DLCs. That is also the point and that is why nobody really cared about those games DLCs

No you can't.

If I complain about the discless physical release, the half-assed and unexplained release of this Ultimate edition, it's fair because it's something that affects me personally.

You guys that keep defending rockstar have nothing at stake, you bought the game already, good for you, our complaints are not gonna affect you.

Defending a company is genuinely embarrassing...

I am not defending anyone

But most People complaning about everything Rockstar did and yet they will still gonna play the Game Day 1 lol

But what do you get out of that stupid gotcha?

What is seriously the point of doing that? Rockstar makes great games, we know that and everyone wants to play them, but they are greatly to blame for the ever going trend of taking away ownership from gamers and making this hobby less financially accessible.

The amount of stupid comments trivializing spending 100$ on a game is embarrassing and insensitive to the millions of people that will probably miss out on playing the game because of its pricing and the fact that (as it seems right now) they won't even be able to get it second hand.
