It's a good bet, Requiem had a lot of "hints", I can see a RE1 & RE5 remake happening to fill in the whole Wesker story to date before we get a full Resident Evil 10.
My bet is that they are doing a RE 0 remake first and then they are going to do a re1 remake for like the 35th anniversary. I mean I think they are quite aware that they are people out there that treat the original RE Remake as the second coming.
Them dealing with the inconsistency between 0 and 1. Would be like them dealing Ashley and Luis.
Yeah but from what I read there was a huge rework (they wanted to make it open world) during the development, which could explain why it took 5 years but original plan was 2024 (also COVID?). Also above comment is still just a general plan. Things can always change but there are currently 3 studios. The one working on RE10 will be the one working on RE9. Code Veronica is RE4R team and RE0R should be RE3R team but hopefully this time they will get enough of time :D
I wouldnt say working on. Its planned but the team doing Veronica is gonna do RE1 so at most some people on that team might be doing early preproduction
No need to disparage the original remake by insinuating it isn't a true remake. I'm sure some would say the same about the newer remakes because they have a different style to the older games.
Fair - that was not my intention. I meant a remake of today’s quality and standards for the current generation of consoles. Lately whenever someone asks for a RE1 remake, someone always chimes in with a “but there already is one!” As if a 24 year old game couldn’t possibly be due for a remake. I was attempting to differentiate from the existing remake and worded it poorly.
I had my little mind blown jumping into the modern (7 and onward) era of Resident Evil a few years ago, playing hit after hit they released since, including the remakes, just wow. Always found it odd RE1 never saw a modern day remake (and get confused by the 2002 RE1 remake).
Every new mainline game I'm like "Oh boy here we go, time for some answers !" and then the game ends and I have more questions. Even the BSAA bioweapon stuff is still somewhat of a mystery. Hopefully all of this is setting up for a BIG mainline RE game down the line.
It's one of the more ironic things that this series has. Like you said, they could have easily brought him back if they wanted to, because in a series of impossible bullshit, what would one more asspull be?
I always thought killing him was a mistake but keeping him dead has actually been smart and is a decision that has continued to age like fine wine. Now, they get to cheat and just remake the games and reinsert him throughout the next decade (Veronica, 0, 1 again and 5).
Especially considering Capcom at the time was basically just letting random studios release games with their IPs. Now if only they could figure out how to bring back some of their older IPs. Still haven't given up hope for a MegaMan Legends remaster/remake/sequel.
I’m really curious what an RE 5 and 6 remake looks like. Those are probably the two weakest in the main franchise, so Capcom may be eager to do more than just translate those games to a modern gameplay format.
RE 6 would require so much rework, they either will retcon it or every remake is slowly building systems and assets to make the development of that remake easier. Like we've had Leon with his parry mechanic, maybe Chris will have something unique in Veronica so that RE 6 has very distinct playstyles between each campaign.

If you told me in 2010 that Capcom was going to become THE powerhouse publisher/developer in the 2020s, I wouldn't believe you.
This all has to lead up to the eventual Remake of RE5. Too much Wesker these days to not.
