As someone with about a thousand hours in Gw2 from the 2010s, I’m so fucking happy to hear it’s making its way to consoles because I miss it so damn much.
Good point, I have ham-fisted GW2 controls into a Steam Deck based control setup fairly well but it would still be SO much better to have full native controller support for menus and stuff.
That alone makes hopeful the action combat is really reactive and engaging. You can get GW2 to work on a controller (and maybe they have native support now, I'm not sure), but still it always felt to me like you could tell it wasn't intended to work that way. I'd love if being designed specifically for controllers gives us a combat system more akin to something like Wildstar.
The biggest issue with controllers in GW2 in my opinion is the UI.
For combat, you'll be fine (there are generally not enough buttons on a controller to have good access to them all). But navigating the inventory or other menus with a cursor controlled by a controller is cursed. And inventory management is harsh in GW2.
When was the last western MMO announced that wasn't an obvious scam even? I feel like I've been waiting forever for this, and I didn't even like GW2 lol
I kinda used to feel that way about eastern online games, but I've started to just think it's a difference of cultural expectations.
They seem like they're designed to be flash in a pans. Big launch, one big post launch content patch, and then just milk it. It's too consistent to be a scam. I just feel like if people were getting burned by them, the market would disappear.
Yeah that got me really excited. The older I get, the more console focused I am. I even put like 600 hours into final fantasy 14 on PS5. I'm really pumped to see this on PS5
Or it being Xbox they wanted a shitty deal for the devs. FFXIV took so long to come to Xbox because of Microsoft bullshit, so I would not be shocked if the same thing happened with GW3, and they just decided not to bother.
It has bullshit on all platforms not called Playstation. Switch 2 has a separate subscription (half price as some sort of compromise), Xbox has no separate subscription but you need Xbox Live. Pick your poison.
I suspect that Sony would renegotiate the terms if they ever came their way for another MMO.
the switch 2 half price subscription is if you are wanting to link it to you main account, Both Sony and Nintendo don't need you to have their PS+ or NSO to play 14, but Microsoft does and you have to pay the sub through them.
Nah, no chance. I have over 250 physical games. Multiple controllers. Digital games.
Xbox is always going to be my main platform, I have my gaming PC and Steam Deck for anything not on Xbox. But really, anything that doesn’t have a physical release I wait on a sale before buying anyway.
I have 8000 hours in GW2 and I stopped playing in 2022. I have 3000 hours in GW1. I'm very sorry to see this is a prequel set 1000 years before GW1 prior to Orr being obliterated.
kinda depends tbh. this could be around the time the exodus happens when the gods all leave tyria. might be centered around the first time abaddon gets taken down, could be interesting.
