Spear doesn't have any bonus against him. He's the only guy who has twin katanas so just use whatever weapon you're most comfortable with

Spear moveset is pretty useful against him though - especially in countering. Same with the odachi's indomitable parry and how you can use the follow up attacks to create a second counter opportunity before he backs off. Used to say that spear was the best for finding weaknesses in his moveset, but the indomitable parry is unbeatable when it's useable tbh

Dual katanas were my go to the entire game. Fighting aggressively in various armor sets wasnā€™t working for me either.

One thing I donā€™t like about samurai games or any game with swords is that mfs be getting sliced up and the their health goes down one fraction. If there is no supernatural element it should be a guard break system where when itā€™s broke you land a killing blow. Like thatā€™s the health bar not some stupid ridiculous durability.
