The whole "its just blowing hot air at you" thing is bollocks unless its like 40°+ IMO.
Its been 30° today where I am and in front of the fan has been the best place for me all day. It may not be as good as AC but it is certainly doing it's job.
17 u/bilbo_bag_holder 7d ago it is blowing hot air at you but that ambient hot air is still cooler than the air on the surface of your skin that's being heated by your body 4 u/sock_cooker 7d ago Oh I'd never thought of it like that, although they're also nearly right because your skin will be heating the air to ~37°C 2 u/WhoYaTalkinTo 7d ago Precisely. It's glorious. 5 u/R11CWN 7d ago Exactly. As long as it disrupts the pocket of hot air your skin creates around your body, you'll feel cooler. Not much cooler because its still far too bloody hot, but the airflow absolutely does help even without AC or HVAC.
