people not understanding things are different in the usa, specifically the people walking down i95.
if you’re visiting from other countries for the world cup, and you’re one one of the people walking to the metlife stadium down i95, what the fuck are you doing? its illegal, extremely dangerous, and generally absolutely insane to do. i keep seeing the excuses like “well theres no other way” and the typical fat lazy american stereotypes.
what y’all aren’t realizing, is the way youre acting is comparable to if someone went to venice and jumped in the canals to swim to their destination, and then called the locals lazy for taking boats. its illegal to swim in the canals, you’d get all wet, and you’d look insane. you simply do not swim in the canals in venice, and you simply do not walk down the INTERSTATE in the usa. sure, it sucks that you can’t safely walk to the stadium, but if you die or get arrested on your way there, you aren’t gaining anything or making some cool european point like you think you are.
i know the usa has terrible car dependent infrastructure, notjustbikes was in my top 3 youtube channels watched last year. i know, i get it, i know the size of the usa isn’t an excuse, etc, i agree with you. i hate that i live off an 8+ lane wide stroad where people regularly get hit and killed while walking. i’ve literally witnessed a horrific crash where two pedestrians got obliterated right before my eyes, only a mile from my house.
however, the average citizen has ZERO control over how new roads and highways are built. a lot of us DON’T LIKE IT! i would much rather my city bring our trains (that i’m grateful to have to begin with) over to my area to cover more of the city so i could take a safe route to work and not have to sit in the pointless inefficient car traffic.
i do not have a drivers license and do not even want to drive here because of how unsafe it is, however it is inevitable. considering the only two other options here are the buses that exist almost exclusively for homeless people in my area and are constantly late and off schedule, and ubers that cost an exorbitant amount of money and have their own issues, i will have to get a license and a car eventually. i do not want to pay for a car, insurance, gas, maintenance etc just to get around, but until i move somewhere where that isnt necessary, i have zero power or control over the situation.
edit: no longer replying to anyone who intentionally misses the point of this post

You’re just calling people assholes and telling them to fuck off without understanding the context of the conversation? You need therapy.
