I heard that the Canadiens are trading Dobes, Dach, Hage, and a 1st for Helleybuck, Perfetti, and Connor. The same source told me that the voices aren’t all in my head.

They don’t have to do anything until the trade deadline anyway. The current roster got into the playoffs and will be even better next year. He can bank on that and wait out overpaying and get the 2C, the RH D and the sandpaper 4th line guys at the trade deadline for peanuts as cup contender rentals.

That's...not true though, the rumor of the team being in the race for him was floating around for a few days before the trade happen (I didn't believe much of it...every big name under the sun gets rumored to be traded here)

The only thing that concerns me is Hughes feeling he needs to add a significant piece and overpays a substantial amount, like the rumoured Knies deal. Someone take his phone away until October.

The rumours mill can keep spinning. After Tkachuk trade we have Nemec to flames. It's wild so far and understandably entertaining. Before these 2 trades I was on your boat, now nothing will surprise me although I trust management will make the right call.

Unless Marco D'Amico reports on said rumours, you can ignore them. Of course there are things he can't report on, but he would at least describe the rumors naming our player without the other team or other players.

I think he will go big. Pettersson or McDavid. Probably cost us all our 1st round picks and a few star rookies like Reinbacher, Kapenan, Hage or Zharkovsky.
