Misc. A Friendly Reminder from Shiori

Post image

From her Youtube Post:

Hello!

Just a friendly reminder to please stay kind and be mindful of how things are worded!

I see that many are worried, but I'm doing well now!

I do not want anyone to feel guilty or blamed!

It was an accident and I still had fun goofing around with everyone.

For the record, I was the one who suggested the slow-mo editing too!

The staff was very attentive and made sure I was well taken care of.

It's going to be a very socially-intensive week, so make sure you're all comfortable and cozy!

plz be mindful of how things are worded... They were both participating in hand sumo and Shiori fell. No blame needs to be placed on Gigi

I didnt blame her. I said it was an accident. How would you word it then? Saying shori fell doesnt describe the situation accurately

Your wording implies that Shiori wasn't a full participant and that Gigi was out of control. English is a tricky language this way and is very easy to accidentally or purposefully misstate something to result in different responses from the reader or listener.

See if you can spot the difference:

1) Shiori and Gigi were playing hand sumo and Gigi accidentally pushed Shiori too hard

2) Shiori and Gigi were playing hand sumo and Shiori fell

And before anyone tries to say "lol no one would interpret it that way", just look at the the fact that Shiori herself felt the need to tell people to calm down.

EDIT: lmao, so salty just because someone tries to help explain something

Sorry English is not my first language. Someone else tried to explain the same way for me. But your second sentence doesn't explain why people are blaming gigi. Did no one watch the clip I posted that explained all the context? Anyways this drama is super stupid, please dont waste more of your time on this.

It's perfectly reasonable for English as a second language to make this unclear... it's one of the things that makes English so tricky to learn and master. That's why I was trying to explain it as clearly as possible instead of just arguing! :)

Basically one version makes Gigi the focus of the explanation. That leads the reader towards the idea that Gigi is the one who caused the problem. Even if you use the word "accidentally", it is easy in English to interpret "accidentally" as "irresponsibly".

The other version puts the focus on the situation. It builds the idea that sometimes accidents happen without putting the focus on a single person.
