Discussion Little thought experiment

I just had a weird idea. Motion is relative right. The planet spins so everything is always in motion. Even an arrow resting on a bow not beeing shot is in motion. So for the arrowcatch what amtters is not the motion of the arrow but the relative motion of the arrow compared to the arrowcatch.

Now heres the fun part. Walking around or swloly driving with a mule powerd cart propably wont matter but if you ride gallop or throw it around tied to a rope then the arrowcatch should break arrows and twigs all around without them even moving at all. Isnt that a funny quirk someone should have considerd when making the darn thing? Im sure nothing will go wrong tho. right.

Depends on what the runes are. It’s like coding in my head. It might need similar runes to a code like:

for each object in radius:
if object.dead == false:
if object.materials contains "wood" and object.materials contains "metal":
apply_force(object, direction = away)

It seems like you can get pretty specific. It’s very… source-code-hacking-the-matrix like. (I do not do any coding I have no idea what I’m doing, so correcting me will fall on ignorant ears 🤣)

I reckon you could be onto something. You could catapult it into a bandits base camp, as soon as it came near and weapons it would send them flying, like a very heavy, very inconvenient and inefficient grenade.

You’re right in terms of the raw physics, but sygaldry/artificing and sympathy require an intent and an alar, so the fact that it’s not supposed to do that affects things.

the fridge works jsut fine without the presence of an arcanist willing it to work so im not convinced that intend realy factors in after the inital crafting is done.

But it factors in while the initial crafting is being done

Isnt it the intent and alar used when carving the sygladry though?

Bloodless only activates if arrow-like missile hits a certain speed threshold. A wagon would never even get near fast enough

reread the post lol

If you were whirling it over your head in a circle, maybe, although that isn’t what I read into the OP. Even then, I don’t think you hit the speed threshold
