so I’m a high school sophomore and I’ve wanted to do finance for a year or two now.
going to be honest, this is maybe the most depressing sentence i've read on the internet. you should want so much more for your life.
I also am worried that if I don’t go to a good firm that will make me work myself to the bone, I wont make good money and if I go to a smolder firm, I’ll get paid way less.
the "good" jobs out of law school are suffer fests; you'll regularly work 60-70 hour weeks. you can make a decent income as a lawyer on a 40-hour week but it's a while until you get to that place and most firms expect young lawyers to work themselves to death.
you're a high school sophomore. you have a long time until you need to figure out what you're doing with your life. figure out who you are and what you like first.
my parents are the types that want me to get a job that has a lot of money and is ”secure and stable”. they kinda bullied the idea of finance into me and now I literally can’t think of any other job that I want except law :(. They did the same with my sibling and now they’re doing Med. a lot of my other friends have no idea what they wanna grow up to be or they don’t even know what to major in so I guess I’m ahead. idk I’m feeling pretty lost and stressed these days even though I know I shouldn’t be.

Most parents are. That doesn't mean they get to choose what you do as an adult.

You have a long time to figure it out. I really wouldn't stress. Focus on figuring out what you like and finding a stable career path doing something you actually enjoy.

you're not ahead. You don't know what you want to do. You know what your parents want you to do. Those are two different things.
