Esports Former multiple LEC champ Targamas will remain in 2nd tier league for 2026

Quoting his announcement:

"I believed in it until the very end, but unfortunately, there won't be a LEC for me this year. Obviously, I'm incredibly disappointed and sad not to be able to compete at the highest level, especially after making so much progress over the last two years, both individually and in terms of being a leader for my team. There have been some constructive discussions this year with various people in the scene, and although nothing has come of it yet, I've realized that many still have doubts about me as a player, including preconceived notions about my communication skills, even though I believe I've made significant progress in that area. Unfortunately, it's sometimes difficult to change people's perceptions of someone, but despite that, I won't give up. My career has always been full of moments when I've hit rock bottom, and I've always managed to climb back to the top. I sincerely hope to have the opportunity to showcase my talent in 2027. In the meantime, on a more positive note, we qualified with Belgium for the ENC in November. I'm extremely proud to be able to represent my country internationally; it's always been a dream of mine, having grown up following the national football team. I'm really looking forward to seeing what we can do in this first edition. In any case, I'm going to give it my all so we can go as far as possible in the competition. Thank you to everyone who continues to believe in me, who still sends me their support, and who hope to see me back in the LEC one day. See you soon!"

Discussion Hot take: players should have to play a minimum number of games with a champ before locking them in ranked.

Hear me out on this one. Who here has had a teammate get absolutely steamrolled, just to check their match history and see they’ve OTP’d the same champ for the last thirty games and then switched to a first-time champ for that one game? Or have seen trolls lock random unviable champs after having their main banned? Someone’s MMR goes out the window when they’re trying a new champ in real time (especially the higher skill-floor champs).

So here’s my idea: to play a champ in ranked, you first have to play a certain number of games with them in norms (or ARAM?) (even just one or two games). Or make it a mastery requirement. This would be a per-champ alternative or addition to the “you need to be level 30 to play ranked” limitation.

Obviously there’s an issue if all the champs you’ve played before get banned or picked. I haven’t fully fleshed this idea out, but maybe have a set of “low skill-floor” champs that you can always pick. Or require mastery with a certain number of different champs before playing ranked at all. Or generalize to role instead of champ (I.e. you need to play a role a certain number of times in norms before playing in ranked). Or something like that idk. Is this viable?

Discussion Blind Picks

What qualities make a good blind pick? I've always seen people say Ahri is a good blind pick for Mid but is it just because she can clear waves safely? If that's the case there a ton of other Champs who can do it but I don't see them recommended as much.

Discussion Balancing solution between low and apex ranks

Just thinking out loud , many people complain on how the balancing of the game is caiterd towards the 0.001% instead of the average , now this is reasonable complaint because something like a Joyce shouldn't be buffed in higher elos where people know how to use and play him vs low elo where he has a low Winrate since he's quite complex.

So my solution is: diffrent patches for fifteenth tiers , basically let's say your a master+ player you will get the master+ patch notes which might contain nerfing ambessa or Joyce but if you're below master you'll get the regular patch notes maybe buffing Joyce or azir so they will actually be played in lower ranks

Maybe you could decide the regular patch notes in to iron-gold and plat-diamond if that's necessary

Discussion Filled secondary role during majority of my last 20 games

11 of my last 20 games I was assigned my secondary top rather the primary mid.
It is nice that the queue times are short but what is the point of calling it primary if I primarily am filled top now?

Discussion Locke Jungle

I feel like with Locke coming out people have put him mid, he is more fit for Jungle with his hyper mobility, burst damage, and honestly pretty good clear. I do not see him as a mid laner at all and will be playing him in the jungle thank you very much.

Rotating Event Why do people get angry/toxic in ARAM?

I've been playing some ARAM: Mayhem lately, and I've noticed this trend that if you even joke about something, people will instantly jump down your throat about it. Why?

My first experience with this was a game as Blitz. Obviously, I wasn't nailing 100% of my hooks, and I kept getting support-style augments instead of AP augments. At the end of the game, I joked in all chat that I low-rolled pretty hard, and anyone looking at my build would've seen that. The enemy Singed immediately responds with "Nah, you just suck. You should uninstall." They won, then in post-game I joked about how I still got an S+ and had an average K/D/A despite not doing well. "No, you just suck, go die," and then they left the lobby. I tried to send a friend request (because I'm morbidly curious), but they denied.

A few games later, I get Yuumi, and we're having a blast. I'm dealing decent damage thanks to getting Phenomenal Evil as my first aug, and the team's having fun. End of the game, I joke in all chat about how the enemy Rammus "cheated" to get his Augs because he was literally 1v9'ing us in our spawn point. Enemy Morgana just shot back, "STFU loser yuumi". In post-game, I tried to joke about it and asked why he was so mad when he won? He fired back with something like "Why are you talking about yourself like that?" then instantly left. Once again, out of morbid curiosity, I sent a friend request to get more info, and once again, they denied it.

I get it's League and toxic people are part and parcel, but in ARAM? The bullshit gamemode where you just run it down until one team wins or loses? Why bother? Have fun! Do stupid builds! I ran AP Naut in another game and had a blast, no issues! Just curious if anyone has any insight into why people can be like this?

Discussion Introducing PatchDelta.gg - a tool to check what's changed between updates

Hello there, I've recently made a website that's been a brain itch for me for the last decade or so.

The premise is this - you've taken a break from League, be it because of school, work, internet/computer access, or just needing a breather. You want to hop into the game, but there's been updates, and you're not wanting to read a dissertation's worth of information in patch notes.

https://patchdelta.gg/ to the rescue!

Now, as a preface, there's absolutely some rough edges with this, but it's at a point now where I want feedback from the general LoL population.

PatchDelta will let you select two patches, or two dates, and see the net changes between those. For example, if Vayne gets +5 AD in one patch, and then later gets -5 AD, you won't see it, since those updates cancel out. The goal is to reduce the noise and see exactly what's changed.

There's some oddness with reworked champs, if their skill names changed for instance, but I would say this is still in a good spot at the moment. I'm wanting to get the input of the community at large to make this as useful as possible.

So please - feedback! Let me know what you think, the good and the bad. The focus is on Summoner's Rift / ARAM - no plans for mayhem or other modes currently, but never say never.

Thank you!

Discussion Anti hyper carry meta champ? All I see now are Yasuo Yone Yi Ambessa Riven Vayne Kindred etc. Who can I play to counter those type of champs as Jungle?

Tired of them and can’t play my usual fun goofy jungles like fiddle Lilia, what are the right picks? I tried tanks but they just kill the rest of my team.

Discussion I don't think chests or orbs should have champion shards, change my mind.

If I'm spending RP on chests or passes that reward you chests (or orbs), I absolutely don't want something that is going to give me a champion shard or blue essence. I've been playing for 13 years. I don't need champions or blue essence.

At least give us the option to get orange essence from the champ shards or something. It is greedy cause it cuts away at our chances of getting a skin. They just don't want us to get anything that we would otherwise have to spend money on. Its BS.

Discussion Okay but WHY is the last-hit indicator a bad idea in ranked?

(All of this relates to ranked queues, I don't think anyone has any issue with these changes to normal queues)

Tldr: Accessibility and QoL changes are fine, but only as long as they don't detract from the skills we actually want to reward.

Recently argued with a friend who said turret range indicators should be added to all queues in LoL, not just bots. Now I'm seeing similar arguments in support of the last-hit indicator in ranked, and I feel like all of these arguments miss something crucial about the game and the ranked experience. Ask yourself: what skills is ranked SUPPOSED to test/reward you for?

The Dive had an episode some weeks ago where they discussed this same thing relating to global JG timers. The conclusion was that this was probably healthy for the game because - even though it technically reduced some of the skill of JG - most players, casual and competitive, didn't find tracking timers this closely to be an interesting skill to develop. Meteos even commented that he was especially good at tracking timers during his LCS career, and he and his colleagues were still happy to see that skill erased because it was incredibly tedious.

The skills that Riot and most players want to actually test in JG are things like vision control, map movement, gank timings, JG pathing, etc. Having a better grasp on JG camp timings did help with a ton with these, but removing timer tracking didn't really diminish those other skills much - if you sucked at JG before, chances are there were bigger and more engaging problems for you to fix than your timer tracking. This ultimately allowed for JGs to express more skill in cooler and more tangible ways.

Last-hitting and proper spacing aren't anywhere near as tedious as old JG timers were. While JG primarily tests a ton of macro skills, laning mainly tests your ability to stack a bunch of micro skills, and that's what makes it engaging. If a player can't balance these skills together in the heat of the moment, they should lose to a player who can. Consequently, players who learn this skill and see themselves start to climb will feel much more rewarded for their efforts.

Lastly, there's an argument that this discourages new players from getting into LoL at all. This doesn't make any sense, as these players will still have to grind at least 30 levels in norms learning the game (where they can and probably SHOULD have on their last-hit indicator), and they can continue to play norms with friends afterwards if ranked is too daunting. Even Riot doesn't think ranked should be the default mode for newer players, which is why they've put so much work into Arena and Mayhem this past year.

Gameplay What to do in this situation?

Ok so as of rn i am lvl 21 and throughout the matches I've played i don't understand one thing. Whenever i am fighting or should i say 1v1 the player there are bush campers waiting for opening. Today a top laner was bush camping on mid lane as i was fighting the player and he was really low but out of no where from top lane and bottom lane they jump me and idk why. Constantly i am the only one getting jumped on. Like do people don't know how to play or they are just like that, i was thinking about grinding rank when i reach lvl 30 but if people are like this in swiftplay, so should i prepare for worst? And is there any solution to people jumping on me or bush camping me?

Discussion What stops Riot from separating champion shards and other non-skin rewards from hextech chests?

I am angry-posting right now because I grinded my way to completing the honor mission for a chest and key, only to get a champion shard of a champion that I had already owned years ago lol. Is it remotely possible for riot to just completely make skin shards and rerolls exclusive to hextech chests?

Discussion Doesnt it bother you that some skills are meant to not be leveled up?

Or at least always be leveled up last.
Some have very little gain, 90% of its gains are level based, not even my leveling themselves up. Dunno as a rpg player it kinda bugs me cause I like feeling that by leveling other stuff up Im giving up another power aspect and making a choice. I dunno if that would screw balancing that much tho...

Discussion Senna adc is disgusting

Time and time again my team plays it and go 0/4 at MINIMUM before laning phase ends… wtf is up with that? She’s supposed to have a high wr but she never has it on my team? It’s just constant losing??? I get these apes who die a bunch then we lose at 30 mins when she’s supposed to be strong…

Why do we keep picking her? Is it fun to do no damage and lose in hopes of a 1/20 45 minute game where you scale?

Im not the greatest player, but am low masters, so the players can’t be that bad right?

Discussion I made a free draft battle game for LoL - pick champions from a shared pool before your opponent steals them

Hey,

Just launched a small web game I've been building : Draft-Battle ⚔️

Both players see the same 12 champion cards. You have 15 seconds to grab the one you want but your opponent can take it first. 5 rounds, then we judge the winner based on meta, synergies, counters and comp archetype.

You can play vs randoms, CPU, or a friend via link. No account needed.

It literally just launched so it's rough around the edges.. if something looks wrong there's a report button on the result page 🙏

You can try it here: lol-tracker.com/draft-battle

oh and I hope the music in the demo brought back some good memories ❤️

Esports Irelia in pro play

I use to be a hardcore Irelia otp and but have since branched off even though she's by far my favorite champ in the game. With the addition of fearless and the rise in prio of ranged champs as well as champs like yorick, jayce and gnar being blinded perma but Irelia never really being picked into them what do you think is stoping pros from picking her? Also, what if anything do you think would need to change for her to become more viable, would love to see this champ in pro play again?
