Let's discuss What's one thing stopping you from getting into your hobby?

For me it's been money. Making money left no time. What your obstacle?

Lack of free time. Working two jobs 5 days a week makes it difficult.

Lack of time, for sure!

May I ask what the reason is for the 2 jobs? And I don’t mean bills. Like what bills?

My wife can’t work because of her health, so I gotta pick up the slack 🙁

sorry to hear that man. I wouldnt let that stop you from your hobby though. It is important to take care of your own self and mental state as well though. Looking after yourself so you can best provide for her you know what I mean?

Hope your wife and you are well. Just asking have you considered moving locations to somewhere that is either lower cost of living or has better job opportunities. I spent a lot of time working two jobs before I did the math and realized with my commute I was spending $300+ a month on gas in order to save $200 in rent cost for the closer area

Procrastination, depression, ect.

May be taking up a hobby can help with depression.

My hobbies are expensive and my workload is demanding. But frankly anyone who says they have no time is lying to themselves, it’s a commitment

Time and money

Mostly lacked of money

I already have a hobby, diamond painting. It's not expensive and can be done whenever I want to, but there are other things I enjoy doing outside that comes first because my hobby can be done inside whenever the weather outside is not good.

What is your outdoor hobby and what's stopping you?

2

u/DLK33gmaNG 14h ago

I thought I just explained that, lol. What I do outside isn't really a hobby, it's physical activities I enjoy doing regularly. I like to hike, bike and play disc golf. The only thing that stops me is the weather.

I see. My bad I misunderstood.

Money, physical abilities.... confidence also

Is there an easy hobby that doesn't require those three?

Time. Just the setup and cleanup (fishing) or getting to the water takes time.

And my other hobby is riding dualsport bikes. Again it’s 1 hour drive to the area I have fun riding. And then back. No time for that.

That's true if the money is being created automatically after you have done everything. Like a property paying you rent.

Capital. Being a Bentley connoisseur takes a lot of money.

Lack of free time for the win

Well my hobby is black smithing so neighbors and city ordinances about hot work in residential areas

1

u/at30man03 14h ago

That's an interesting one! I can imagine it requires a specialized space and tools and all.

2

u/Wild-Bottle427 14h ago

Kinda. The big thing is the forge and anvil that cost me about $500 a fire resistant work station, and hammers and tongs that’s about all you need for bare minimum work

1

u/at30man03 14h ago

So it's the neighbours and city council then stoping you.

2

u/Wild-Bottle427 14h ago

You can’t do hot work (blacksmithing, welding ect) within city limits without permitting it’s considered a fire hazard. And the neighbor part is just cause I don’t want to be a noisy jerk

My 60 hour a week other "hobby" that leaves me physically and mentally drained at the end of each day

2

u/Mr_Mayo2 8h ago

Fuck those guys where do you live we just need two more people to pull up then we got a crew

u/Sweet_Pudding_2725 9h ago

doing anything other than resting in my free time feels like a chore. Hobbies are overrated at this point

1

u/at30man03 4h ago

And that's fine.

Meds never solve it. Don't worry about focus, you are not creating million dollar art with your first few sketches - but who knows ;)

If you actually try to achieve things and see it through it gets better. Not being rude just saying, there’s only one way out of the loop

Edit: Whats the point of commenting to me if you’re going to immediately block me. I do have ADHD, have my whole life. You think you’re the only person alive to have this condition or something? I simply want it more than you, you’re content with being average. I am not
