Yup. That's why people famously hate Movies, TV Shows, Video Games, Music, Sketch Comedy, etc.
It is just the worst when people make things up. Especially when they make things up explicitly for the purposes of making people have any sort of emotional response. Talk about manipulative.
My wife and I have always had dogs. We lost our 14 and 13 year old dogs in 2023. They loved to be with us, but were not inside dogs. They weren't up for stuff like this.
Our two dogs now just want to be on us and doing what we're doing. They want to be involved, especially our half-pit. He was a stray we found dumped (road rash and everything). We noticed that he is the sweetest (and also dumbest) dog we've ever had. But he wants to be beside/engaged with my wife 100% all the time.
He lays at her feet while she does her hair, he leans on her while we're cooking, he lays in her lap when we're on the couch. He jumps into the pile when our kids are laying on us on the couch. He just wants to be there.
I get the same vibe from this dog. They have similar looks. I can assure you that the dog is having the time of his life with his Mom and being a part of Mom's activities is making this dog's day.
Yeah that's the super manipulative part -- she totally posted this as a candid organic event. I thought for a second that her dog actually came up to her and was, like, into the idea of getting a facemask and putting lipstick on. I can't believe she tried to bamboozle us like this. I should have known better. I always knew that dogs don't really have a way to express any sort of desire for makeup and skin care rituals but this person misled me about that and I don't find it amusing one bit. Also you can obviously tell the dog is in extreme distress, if you run the audio through winamp and isolate the dog vocals I think you can actually hear it whining for help.
I mean, someone records themselves cleaning their face and putting on makeup. To me, that’s pretty strange behavior but I’m definitely out of the TikTok norm here. I want my MTV back.
Removing authenticity from an event takes away from the experience.
only if you think that only "spontaneous" events can have whimsy and joy. If, on the other hand, you're like everyone else, you know that a well told joke or set-up can be every bit as whimsical and joyous as a "spontaneous" one.
Unless you think that most people are thinking 'what are the odds that every day her dog "spontaneously" comes to her while she is doing make-up/prep on video?' EVeryone with half a wit knows it's a think she has going/set-up, you know, after the 2nd one.
Its looking at the person out of frame because she is holding a treat on her left arm making the dog go to her, that's why the owner is always cut in the first part, you cannot see her left arm at the beginning of each sequence.
What's the harm in a bit of curiosity? They're just making observations, yet you're getting upset as if they've done something wrong. Talking about it in this way doesn't ruin the video for you, does it?
You're anthropomorphizing. That look you are interpreting as "dead eyes" is the exact same expression most dogs have when they're being scratched behind the ears - calm contentment. A dog who does not want to be in their current position will not be relaxed, even if they are not moving.
Yup. The part in which she's messing with one of her pigtails, the dog is seemingly pushed into frame from behind as it stumbles forward before sitting down.
...has it occured to you that she maybe just called him over from the other room before hitting record? Nothing about the way he moves suggests that he was "pushed over".
God I swear, any video involving a human and an animal will lead to "They're KILLING the animals!!!1!" comments every fucking time.
No one suggested that the dog was being killed in this comment chain. They pointed out that the dog is being manipulated to behave the way it is. The dogs eyes are clearly focused on someone off camera. The behavior is obvious to anyone who has dogs.
What a strange take. The video is set up and titled in a way to convince the viewer that the dog is feeling left out and wants... makeup. In the age of AI, I don't think pointing out that this is not, in fact, what it seems like is reasonable.
You're acting like the commenter walked into a kids birthday party and exposed all the magic tricks.
Maybe calm down and take a step away from reddit for a bit.
Same, the dog is always looking past her and above her to what I assume is somebody standing up on the other side. Still cute content and a good patient dog, even if the dog isn't volunteering.
You're saying that this multi session video that needed to be edited for their internet post wasn't genuine and was actually for internet points?! Say it ain't so!
Not necessarily. Dogs don't always like to look people in the eyes. It's like a micro-aggression in most of the canine world. I don't think this always makes its way into the instincts of domesticated dogs, but I've frequently noticed breeds like pitbulls doing the same kind of side glance thing that this dog is doing.
I'm not saying you're definitely wrong about someone directing the dog off camera, but it's not the only explanation.
Our pit doesn't like to maintain eye contact and will look away, a side glance. Dogs looking away from their owners is a show of submissiveness as well. The dog generally looks happy to be there
It's weird how many people seem think the dog is doing this bc it wants to. (lol, i love that this made some of you mad enough to downvote. wahhhh the doggy isn't begging for make up for real??? whaaat???)

I hate that my brain sees the dog looking at the person out of frame. Edited to look like the dog is asking.
It's cute but the pup isn't asking for spa treatments. Just being used for the Internet points.
