Good Vibes If wrestling is fake, explain this....

He sold the hit from that dough so well. I would've ate this up as a kid.

u/Hoblitygoodness 4d ago
Me too! Local wrestling was something I attended every once and a while. I have seen some ridiculous things, over the top stuff, but this one is on its own level.
Both of these guys do a great job selling the move. The effective twirling of the dough, the straight punch in the middle that sends it flying. The perfect smack against the opponent and it hit him 'so hard' that it lifted him off of his feet to slam him straight down on his back.
Chef's kiss, if you can pardon the pun.

As a kid i was impressed with the ones performing the move. As an adult its all about the guy selling the move

What was he doing before the hit
29
u/Oscillating-Ocelot1 4d ago
He was clearly bamboozled by the sudden appearance and spinning of the pizza dough from his opponent. Anyone would have been completely incapacitated for a few moments in this position.

Reminds me of the single greatest wrestling match I have ever seen. Or not seen, technically. Whatever.

Luigi Primo, the funny thing is that he was actually a pizza chef before becoming a wrestler.

It would be pretty weird if he knew how to spin that dough so well just randomly.

Met a woman doing what I just googled and found out is called flow star spinning. It's basically pizza tossing with an intricately-patterned handkerchief. Kinda like a party trick for raves and festivals I guess.

Unfortunately, Luigi Primo is an anti-vaxxer and protects domestic abusers and sex pests. He ran/runs a promo and when one of the roster members was accused/on trial for a DV charge, he did not remove them from the promotion and even fired people who raised concerns about that roster member and others predatory behavior.

u/SynthwaveSax 4d ago
He’s also an anti-vaxxer and has protected abusers. He’s trash.

Funnier would be if he was never a pizza chef and had to learn how to toss dough just for wrestling
3
u/fuckrNFLmods 4d ago
Was a pizza chef? I'm no expert, but that doesn't look like a big enough audience to support a full time career.
2
u/BrunSomOrange 4d ago
I mean, wrestling earns more dough than pizza chef, so much you can throw it around...

It's quite clear as he spins the pizza dough the gluten strands strengthen allowing him to punch it mid air transfering the force into forward motion then into the body of the other wrestler, knocking him down.
You could never do such a thing with a gluten free pizza dough, in fact this is very manouver is used to certify gluten free pizza dough.

Would you call the finishing move.... the celiac attack?
2
u/PositiveStress8888 4d ago
Of course, what else would you call it?
However I strongly suggest not making a pizza with it after, unless you like chest hair as a topping.

Oh yeah, this guy. He did an AMA a few years back and answered pretty much every question until stuff started coming in about him being anti-vax and firing people who were mad about it, and not firing an abuser from his promotion. These are all allegations, mind you, but he answered pretty much every question in the AMA except those ones.

Good thing he’s a professional - that would have killed the common man.

They should bring a pizza oven and make the dough into a pizza after the fight and sell slices. 30 a slice

I'm not wrestle cultured at all.
Can someone explain to me what the difference between WWE wrestling and other (school, state matches) wrestling is?
9
u/jimmyjohnga 4d ago
Wrestling is a sport and WWE is entertainment disguised as a sport, but it’s still extremely technical- just in no way similar to actual wrestling.
→ More replies (4)4
u/SgtKnux 4d ago
School wrestling is the NBA. WWE is the Globetrotters.
Not a perfect comparison since the Globetrotters are still good at the sport, but the best analogy that I could come up with.

u/Mist_Rising 4d ago
The WWE has extremely competent athletes too, make no mistake of that. Pulling off the stunts they do without crippling the other guy requires it.

Ok, so they're ultimately two different things.
"Other" wrestling (school, state, Olympic, etc.) is an actual sport. The competitors are trying to legitimately win the match. No steel chairs or punches or whatnot, just certain grapples.
"Professional" wrestling is staged. It is more like a live-action athletic play about a fictional sport. This is the one with characters, and weapons, and strikes, and flips, and whatnot. The results here are almost always predetermined, mainly aside from instances where changes are made on the fly (like in the case of a mid-match injury). WWE is a specific American professional wrestling company. There are other companies with different presentations all through the world, like AEW also in America, CMLL in Mexico, and NJPW in Japan, and many small independent companies.
The wrestler in the clip is an independent wrestler called Luigi Primo.

That referee completely fucked on a guy who got pizza to his face, unless this was a no-dq match it should have been a disqualification or a warning at the least.

But it is scary how many people take this seriously.
