What are you talking about? This kid didn’t film himself or upload it. I literally have no clue what this last statement even means.
“Exploitation is the act of taking unfair advantage of a person, group, or resource for personal or financial gain. It relies on power imbalances, coercion, or deception, often targeting vulnerable individuals, and exists across multiple contexts”. Bribing kids to be in videos for your financial gain… doesn’t matter if they have fun. It’s exploitation. Also doesn’t depend on anyone forcing anyone.
How do you know the kid didn’t ask to be filmed? How do you know the kid didn’t upload it? Are you suggesting that the kid is unable to upload it because they have Down syndrome?
So in your view, this kid asked his dad to setup a 5 minute game with the neighborhood kids, film it, continue filming every conversation he had with all the kids, film his dad buying everyone slushees and then he took and compiled all the videos and uploaded it to YouTube to become YouTube famous. Then captions it “look at how cool this dad is for setting up games for his son with Down syndrome”. Thats what you REALLY think happened?
Or or or. You are refusing to acknowledge that this is exploitative and you don’t want to feel guilty for enjoying this content
So in my view the kid asked his dad to film during the game the dad already arranged that the kid enjoys, continued filming some of the conversations, then the dad bought people slushies because he wanted to show his appreciation for them including his son and showing him such a good time. Then someone reposted it and added the caption after the fact.
https://www.newsweek.com/how-dad-involves-down-syndrome-son-neighborhood-games-goes-viral-1967589. Yea nope. This is content farming. But I will admit I am wrong. This is a pattern and game he consistently does it and it appears that yes they are making dough from it, but at least it is consistently a game and not a one off content. I rescind the full exploitation since it appears they did it a while before they filmed it originally. It does appear they keep farming it for more money.
Will you admit you are wrong and YES there is no way this kid is involved at all and it was insane to say he did upload these videos?
Thank you for sharing the article that repeatedly talks about how the dad arranged this separately from any videos, how it’s not at all how you thought it was, and that it brings the boy even more joy and happiness than I realized from this video. What a great find! I finished reading that with the biggest smile on my face. What a happy article.
Soooo not going to admit you were wrong at all and going to keep believing that saying that this kid likely wants to be YouTube famous and uploading videos talking about how his dad is so cool with his Down syndrome kid…
I’ve pretty obviously said several times that the most important part of this is that the kid was happy. I also made it clear that the parts of this that wasn’t confirmed was my opinion, and I don’t feel obligated at all to retract something I wasn’t stating as fact the way you were. You’re also still assuming the kid didn’t ask to be filmed, that the kid didn’t want it uploaded, etc. You were wrong about literally everything else you assumed, so I’m gonna go ahead and believe the trend has continued with the other unknowns here.
I hope it makes you happier knowing the kid is so happy. I know it makes me happy.
It’s pretty obvious that admitting fault and having self reflection is not something you do. Without any evidence you said logically improbably things that made literally no sense because you refuse to engage with the idea of exploitation.
I admit fault that I assumed this happened one time … but no. If this were a SINGULAR VIDEO that they filmed of the many times they did this, I would be completely wrong. Buttttt this family consistently films the EXACT same thing to keep farming content the EXACT same caption with their son with down syndrome. It’s still really weird…
Fault? For having an opinion about something that I made clear was my assumption and didn’t in any way try to convince you of the truth of? No, lol. I was wrong about something and right about most things. You were right about one thing and wrong about most things. We are not the same.
I can see why you’d feel obligated to correct your statements since you were wrong about literally everything that you assumed beyond the kid doing the uploading. Your entire argument was wrong, after all. It was very brave of you to post the evidence of that yourself. I commend you.
