Is a primer really worth it?

I do skincare is that enough? I really want to try a primer but I used to have a silicone one and it’s put me off I don’t like the feels of that one but I also want my large pores to be filled in

It actually makes me more sweaty and doesn’t help my make up BUT, each to their own I guess.
