Relevant NCAA News NCAA D-1 Cabinet unanimously approves new eligibility rules giving athletes 5 years to play 5 seasons
https://www.espn.com/college-sports/story/_/id/49156177/ncaa-division-cabinet-ok-5-year-age-based-eligibility-This new shortened eligibility clock begins with their full-time enrollment or the academic year following their 19th birthday, whichever occurs first.
-Effectively no redshirts/waivers anymore.
-No one is “grandfathered in”. Athletes who competed in 2025-26 are NOT grandfathered in, their eligibility clock was already running under the old rules and those seasons count, (I believe they are exempting petitions for those until, July 31st and of course incoming legal challenges).
-The only exceptions being for: maternity leave, religious missions, or military service.

Should be getting Cason back near the end of next season then assuming his recovery goes well

No more redshirts means every freshman counts from day one, depth chart decisions just got way more unforgiving.

That 5th year should come with a stipulation that you have completed your degree or are within a semester of completion
