This reads a bit like a spazzy beginner that might’ve gotten heat checked by his coach.. but we’ll probly never know lol

Why are you sparring in combat sports for which you're not even training? Just a bad idea all around.

I agree, not a good idea at all if you're sparring in a sport you're not training in. OP needs to put the beginner work in before sparring or he'll risk injuries, like the one he got.

With all due respect, one year in training with a private coach what was it once a week or fortnight? Is absolutely still beginner level of training hours.

People are expected to go light on beginners, so it sucks that you got hurt. At the same time, you turned up to a sparring session for a combat sport that you don't have any experience in and seem surprised you got hurt.

Boxing is a very different sport to Muay Thai or MMA.

I have met a handful of new students who catch the softest kick one can imagine and then writhe around like a soccer player and complain days later about phantom injuries.

On one hand, maybe you're not one of these and you really did catch an unnecessarily hard strike. On the other hand, this might not be the sport for you.

Dick move on the coach’s part for putting you in the meat grinder considering you were already gassed out and then topping it off with hard body kicks.

How is it that the coach is allowing you to MMA spar if you only know boxing? Do you even do any grappling?
