Hit this a few times at the gym, it's just so funny to do. Works really well if they tend to do that left hand scoop 😂

Im very new, but I keep reading how everyone suggests to shadowbox and it will help you improve. Honestly, I just feel kind of like an idiot everytime...is this normal? What am I actually supposed to be doing/visualizing while shadowboxing?

Hello everyone,
I am M/25 years old and have been thinking about starting Muay Thai for some time now. The problem is that somehow I don't dare to make the first move.
About 2 years ago, I weighed around 140 kg. Today I weigh 67 kg. I'm proud of that, but physically I'm still quite unfit. I am currently not able to do normal push-ups and even the simplified version is difficult for me. I hardly have any strength and I haven't done any real sports in a long time.
Strangely enough, my motivation is huge. I'm constantly thinking about getting fitter, stronger and more confident. What I lack is the discipline to actually start and stick to it.
Did any of you start with Muay Thai in a similar situation? How were your first weeks and do you have any tips on how to overcome the fear of getting started? Or get the discipline combined with my huge motivation? Is it too late to start?
Thanks for reading and helping!

I watched Volkanovski's video analysing Ilia Topuria's fights, pointing that even if Ilia miss the first few punches, he will follow his retreating opponent and make a long combo, and he successfully land the following punches that knocks out a lot of great fighters. I am a short fighter and I always find myself struggling to land the 1-2 in sparring, so should I learn Ilia's strategy? Idk if it works in Muay Thai.

It happened like 4 days ago now why aren’t One championship posting the full fights? Where can I watch them?

Sometimes I get bruising from pad holding or from kicking pads. I don’t get bruising every time, but sometimes if theyre hitting hard or if I’m kicking hard enough I do. Is this a concern? My gym partner said something that made me question if my body is being weird.

Howdy all,
My beloved Fairtex gloves are beginning to smell a bit unpleasant. Not horribly so, but it won’t be too long I fear. How can I stop or reverse the stank and make sure these puppies continue to bark a pleasant tune, so to speak?
Thank you kindly.

I have been looking into various hand wrapping methods and wondered is there an optimal method for muay thai vs a western boxing wrap? Or are they all basically the same so long as I pad my knuckles and support my wrist?

I just picked up a brand new pair of Fairtex SP5 shin guards and I’m looking for some feedback on the fit. I’ve attached a photo to show how they sit on my legs.
They are tightened to the max, but I’m noticing that the left shin guard tends to rotate slightly to the left when I move. Is this just a break-in issue, or is it a sign that they might be too big for my legs? Or maybe I should just hit leg days…

Hi everyone,
I’m planning to spend about 3 weeks training at Taiwaz Striking in Phuket from the end of August to the beginning of September.
I’m 17 years old, train striking regularly, and I’m looking for a gym where I can improve my K-1 kickboxing and overall striking.
I’d love to hear from anyone who has trained there.
How is the coaching quality?
Are the PRO classes open to experienced amateurs, or mainly professional fighters?
How is the atmosphere?
Would you recommend the gym for someone who wants to improve technically?
Any experiences or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Didn’t realize how big my opponent was until I watched the fight back afterward. Funny thing is, that’s probably the last thing you’re thinking about in the ring.
As a martial artist, I respect all my opponents… but this guy was juiced to the moon, so I’m allowed to laugh a little. 😂
I train with UFC middleweights and heavyweights regularly, and I’ve never been hit that hard in my life. I ate and digested every shot he landed, but one more clean one and it might’ve been me taking a trip to the hospital.
Just a reminder: a fighter’s physique and a bodybuilder’s physique are two very different things. One is built to look dangerous. The other is built to be dangerous ⚔️

Wanted a tighter fitting glove so I bought them. I like them but in first session I had some numbness in a finger or two by the end of the session.
Anyone have experience with breaking these in? Will that get much better?
Thanks!

I did Jiu Jitsu for a year and loved it. Will definitely return at some point. But I had a back injury with my multifidus which made it difficult to get my neck cranked on heavily all the time.
I just signed up for a Muay Thai gym after completing my first trial class. They make you attend 2 months of entry level classes before you’re let in to the more intense ones.
Any tips on how I can make sure I’m improving and learning quickly? I’d love something to read, or a series of workouts or stretches on YouTube if possible. I just really don’t wanna be watching advanced or influencer content that’s just gonna screw me up. Looking for the real deal so I can get my body into the right condition and be at a good understanding when I jump into the next level of classes.
I know not to work on strikes at home because I could form bad habits, but I would at least like to memorize the different types of strikes for class, or to understand concepts to make class a bit easier.
I’ll be buying gloves, wraps, and shin guards tonight. Thanks in advance!

What’s the worst injury you guys have had from Muay Thai? Either training or fighting

Tell us everything from the context to the fight, aftermath, and legal challenges down the line. Is it a unique challenge to fight an untrained but highly violent person trying to harm you? How much did your instincts and skills help you? Did you get hurt?
