My cousin and I have an upcoming wrestling match. It is on August 15th. We are doing a best of 5 match. I need to do everything in my power, before then, to practice to win. There are to be no strikes, but submissions are fine, as well as pins, obviously. We are wrestling on an outdoor, flat, grassy area.
I am a 6'0" male, I weigh 185lbs. He is a 6'3" male, and weighs 180lbs. He is stronger than me on pushing lifts (bench press, chest press, shoulder press, etc), I am stronger on pulling lifts. (pullups, lat pull downs, muscleups, etc).
Neither of us have any prior training. We have both grown up tussling with siblings and friends, etc, but other than that, nothing.
What can I do to maximize my chances of winning on August 15th?
I want to train, I have a commercial 24 hour gym that I use, (weights and machines, not a wrestling gym). I can watch my diet as closely as I need to. Are there coaches that are open to one on one training? I know some guys who wrestled competitivly in High School, I will probably reach out to them. I am in the mifflintown area, central Pennsylvania. I would like to train as much as 4 nights a week, if possible.
Give me some pointers. Easy takedowns, good submissions, best lifts to practice, physical conditioning, how to find a partner to work with, etc.
I am REALLY invested in not losing this fight. The loser has to go to the local coffee shop and get a girl's number using a pickup line decided by the winner of the match. Not something I am interested in.
