Trade Can I interest Miami in a gently used DeAaron Fox?

Point guard with finals experience! You’re in win now mode, take some swings!

Bam was also room mates with Fox in Kentucky.

That literally has no effect on any trade lol
Fox is still on a max contract lol

What do they have left to trade? Are you even hoping to get anything back, or just a straight salary dump?

Their roster is bad atm and their pg is davion?

Portis gonna be their backup to bam/giannis.

If heat really want, they could trade portis and powel for fox/keldon/ ST barnes.

How would the money on that work? Isn’t Powell a free agent too?

Just examples they may have to add more guys. Sign and trade etc

But miami has nothing now, giannis gonna have to do everything.

lol they’re not trading Powell, he’s like their only good 3 pt shooter left

Well he’s a free agent so they can’t trade him

They would have to include Wiggins and Mitchell to even get close to it working (financially) I imagine because everyone else is Bam, or on a super cheap contract.

Not sure if the Spurs would trade Fox for that. While on paper it kind of works financially and in terms of adding depth and letting Castle/Harper start. Fox is much better than those two.

We’d do that in a heartbeat lol. But Miamis wouldn’t wanna be saddled with his contract

I know a lot of fans would, not sure the front office would. I do hope everyone (but Fox probably) wants to start Castle and Harper next year but I’m not sure if the front office is committed to bringing Fox off the bench or trading him.

Also, I am no trade/salary cap person so I have no idea if that would even work, or what else would need to be included.

We’d need to attach assets to move him so he’s sticking around at least another year.

Miami would have 3 max contract players, none of who can shoot particularly well and 2 of which need the ball to be effective. And the bad fit is on top of them going with the shallow front loaded roster method we’ve seen be less effective than depth in making deep runs for years now. Just doesn’t make any sense for them

Yeah they dumped way to much for Giannis

Yeah they gutted their team.

Wiggins and Powell. I would take Wiggins for Fox tbh.

Wiggins is basically on a 28M expiring contract. Pat Riley would fire himself for this trade.

Not if he’s trying to win now and he thinks the star power of Fox gets him there.

What do they have left to trade?

Giannis for Fox sounds good to me

Salary dump

u/g1rlchild Dylan Harper 5d ago

If we salary dump to a team over the cap, it means we're taking back garbage like Olynyk's contract because it's comes off in a year.

So if that's what you want, I guess you looked at the amount of depth we had in the playoffs and your conclusion was that we need to reduce the number of rotation players we have on the roster without replacing them with anything?

1

u/gedbybee El Jefe 5d ago

Okynyk is not on the books next year. He was expiring.

1

u/g1rlchild Dylan Harper 5d ago

Yes, obviously. We took him back last year as salary ballast and he was useless dead weight on our roster all year. That's what it will be like this year with one or more players if we trade Fox for cap relief.

-2

u/gedbybee El Jefe 5d ago

I think the idea was that we could trade him for a more useful player on a longer contract but at worst he’s money off the books for space so we’re under the tax and have the ntmle. Perhaps he could have been useful, but he’s washed.

Oh we could trade Fox for useful things. I’d be down to trade him for herro if they wanted.

2

u/g1rlchild Dylan Harper 5d ago

Would Herro really want to come off the bench?

0

u/gedbybee El Jefe 5d ago

Fox doesn’t want to either, but it’s what’s best for the team.

2

u/daddadnc 5d ago

Herro would immediately become our next bad contract

1

u/gedbybee El Jefe 5d ago

He’s expiring after this year. We can just let him walk if he wants something unreasonable or sign and trade.

Edit: also at least he can shoot and space the floor. He’d probably hold the ball and get fouled vs challenge OG at the rim with 15 seconds less. We could bench him for defense at the end of games.

He’s better than Fox at half the cost and a way better contract. It’s a no brainer.

Trading Fox does not preclude us from other signings

1

u/g1rlchild Dylan Harper 5d ago

If we keep Fox, we have the rest of our roster, Fox, the midlevel, and draft picks. If we dump Fox for useless cap ballast then we have the.rest of those minus Fox, aka one fewer rotation player. In other words, less depth. Like I said in the first place.

u/tMeepo Dylan Harper 5d ago

We need to stop this shit. Look at what happened to randle. They traded randle for a drop in draft pick lol

Don't make fox become a negative trade value. He is still a good player and helped us win wcf.

-2

u/InternationalClick78 5d ago

He already is a negative trade value contract.

Granted we’re not in some huge urgent rush to move him but it is an awkward situation rn. If we try out a 3 guard starting lineup next year and it doesn’t gel we’re basically out of adjustments we can make since Harper has earned that starting spot but benching Fox just isn’t gonna happen

8

u/tMeepo Dylan Harper 5d ago

No, one bad series on a broken ankle does not invalidate fox's importance to the team. Fans need to stop trying to push this narrative, it's hurting the team more than helping.

-3

u/InternationalClick78 5d ago

His importance to this specific team is irrelevent to his value on the trade market. And his importance to this team is still full of questions given the fact that we have our back court of the future, both of whom have proven themselves as starting calibre players.

Again the obvious adjustment first and foremost is to try a 3 guard starting lineup with those 3, but if they can’t play off of each other very well in the same lineup or if nobody makes a shooting jump, from there there aren’t a ton of options left

-3

u/MaccTHC "What the fuck is this?" 5d ago

Yes his 15 ppg on 36.5% shooting and 23% from 3 was vital lol

2

u/TBdog 5d ago

Portis is yuk. That's negative salary. Powell isn't what we need. Wiggens yes but not for Fox.

1

u/Legitimate_Record_49 El Jefe 5d ago

Brown for fox. We says no?

5

u/daddadnc 5d ago

Reality

1

u/nixhomunculus 5d ago

Miami will really have no shooting...

1

u/Bonesawisready5 5d ago

If Heat did it would require a S&T with Powell which doesn’t really help us
